It seems there will be a few changes in this years release, my biggest concern is what will be left out from last years effort. every year something is dropped to make way for the latest addition, anyone care to speculate on what will be missing this year?

The soccer ball will be missing to make way for PES's full transformation to a full arcade game :p.
JK, I love PES but I do hope the improvements overshadow the negative or whats removed. I honestly dont think they'll remove anything that I'll honestly care about, but who knows.

I have it on good faith from a reliable Konami rep that the following steps will be implemented in order to maintain the illusion of 'fresh ideas' being injected into the series in the longer term.

*After the controversy of online being stuck on beginner, this year it will stuck on 'top player' which will please most folks. To make up for this however, the game times online will all be set to 5 minutes, notwithstanding community hacks and patches to correct the issue (sorry kids, but this is a PC only reserve).

*They have kept the highly useful option to change radar icon colours for far too many iterations of the series. This year this unnecessary memory hogging feature will be removed. However, in order that players who like to play with teams with shit default radar colours dont feel alienated, the radar colours will just be randomly generated for each game and will bear no relation to the colours that the team is actually playing in.

*Since PES6, the thru balls have generally worked much better and more logically than in they have done in previous PES iterations. With PES 2010 the 'thru-ball' function is to rediscover its prior use as a 'lose posession' button.

*On the above note, I have been informed that any chipped through balls performed within the 18 yard box will once again go straight to the keepers hands and/or out of play. The added element of gameplay and goal-scoring variety that this function has added to the game has persisted for far too long to the point where many pes gamers are taking it for granted. By omitting it for a season or two we will all sing Konami's praises for its reintroduction in 2012.

*The new improved defensive Ai will eliminate the super lame gameplay that has dogged the pes series ever since its inception in the lame n00b pish PES4. With 2010, it will be impossible to score by simply dribbling around and around with the best players till the cutback and/or easy tap in opens up. Further more, the narrow 15 degree angled tap ins from 3 yards out on the offside of either post will be gone. The above flaws will be remedied by making players who dribble in the box for longer than 3 seconds simply fall over (from dizziness). The same rule will apply to any player who shoots from an improbable tight angle. In order to appease those who only play the game for lame money goals and the consequential empty bragging rights (and thousands of pounds worth of cash prizes), it will now be ultra easy to score from goalkicks providing you have a goal keeper with a shot power stat of 62 or above.

There were a few more that my source mentioned but I cant be bothered to type them. However, I will stress that I was informed that above measures will only persist for a year or two before reverting back to thier 'normal' state, thereby earning Konami lots of praise for both fixing these bugs and 'listening' to thier community.

They have already done that.

MatTheCat, I wish I could take you post as an outright joke however I have been playing this game far too long and seen these little tricks to often to be able to dismiss any of them. I do remain optomistic but know deep down I am gunna get raped.

I completey share this statement. For far too long I have held my hopes high just to have them dashed. Christ knows why I stick around to pick up more copies of this doomed title. Unfortunately I think Konami are suffering from over-expectation due to the earlier part of the series making such large steps forward. Would seem as tho they have lost there way. This is exactly the reason that FIFA is now grabbing all the headlines. For the past 2 years (this year included if you believe all the hype so far) they have released and possibly goin to release with the inclusion of FIFA10 a game that actually mimics football apposed to the usual sh*t knocked outcovering the past decade.

I would love to see PRO EVO start reaping all the headlines again and filling me with excitement till the brink of climax, but unfortunately I think the harsh reality is its gonna be a long time before they bring back the good ol' days!!!

Still, despite all this... I am still holding high optimism for the next release, partially due to the fact that my club is now licensed and they have brought back the Anfield stadium. With tweaks to the Master League aswell, I think it will keep me interested for another few months until all this kaosstarts again !!!

Yeah....although a joke, it wouldn't surprise me if one or two of the above measures were actually implemented to some extent.

This is the sort of cheap tricks that fans of the series have been having to put up with for years......

Although, with FIFA being lets face it, years ahead of PES at the moment perhaps Konami will reign in thier cheap tricks brigade now that they have finally realised that they:

*Don't have a near perfect football engine (Seabass made the 'we have near perfect engine' comment shortly b4 PES2008's release)
*Are simply not the critics/gamers favourite football game anymore.
*Cannot afford to keep pissing the gamers off with thier cheap gimmicks and need to produce the fullest game they possibly can.

^But what you said in that post, is truly likely because the staff at WENB who played the game said those things.

I am hoping that the manual pass, button config has not been Fdup in the full game, but it surely looks like it considering it is the L2 - R3 combo for manual keepers, why oh why do they have to do this shite, leave well alone, stop trying to reinvent the wheel FFS, build upon, not sideways. arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........

I hope hat the manual pass is optional to turn on and off.

In PES2009 you could change it so the manual pass could be 'Press down R3 and then do the manual pass'.

But in PES2010 Demo I can't seem to change it :(

I hope I can in the final game...

It's just that I like to move the R3 Stick at random times for no reason, so when manual pass in on I keep on passing it, thats why I change it so you have to press R3 stick and then manual pass.

I don't mind though.

God, I hope they act on their promise to refine, add more, but never take out. And bring back the good things from previous PES/WE series titles. And to make PES 2010 a true simulation with true gameplay, atmospheres, pitch conditions, meatiness of the everything, with superb mind blowing graphic and physics.
