What's the best formation to use against Real Madrid?

Like most of you, every game I play is against Real Madrid or Barca. This means I'm usually forced to pick a good team myself (usually Chelsea against Barca). I've figured out how to stop Barcelona using Chelsea or Man Utd, however I can't stop idiots running down the wing with Ronaldo, crossing the ball to Benzema, and he headers in a goal. It's happened to me three times recently from the kick off. They pass the ball to Ronaldo, he crosses and goal.

I can defend quite well, but for some reason, even if you slide tackle Ronaldo and get the ball he still keeps it. I dominate some of these games, but all they do is whip in a cross and goal. For some reason Higuain can out jump vidic.

Anyway, I was wondering what formations you use because it's coming to a point where I avoid anybody who picks Real Madrid. I can beat the really bad players who pick Real (beat someone 1-4 with Man Utd the other day), but average players I can't beat. Even if I use Barca I can't beat these people, and I'm not terrible at this game. I'm in Div 3A, so I can play a bit, but all these people do is run down the wing with Ronaldo and cross and it just can't be defended against.

I'm using 4-2-3-1 with Juventus, seems to work quite well because from the last few games I played against real I can't even remember Ronaldo touching the ball that much.

Also, don't forget to man mark him - set your DMF marking to "loose" and then your left defender/CB to "tight", it will make sure every time he gets the ball there are two players surrounding him.

Thanks, I'll try that out. I do have my DMF loose marking him, but I have my LB loose marking, I never have my CB marking him. I usually have both my CB loose marking Benzema.

I use Aston Villa everytime against Real Madrid. 3-4-3. It works for me if i put the LWB/RWB marking ronaldo. Work's for me.

Well if you're beating Real Madrid with Villa then you're just very good.

They just don't score from the kick off. Can't beat them all the time, but the formation helps. And yeah, i am good. Learn the game hombre!! I could whip Barca on PES2009 with Man City, using 4-5-1 (9 times out of 10)

Use Inter,or Man U.I've had good matches, some wins but losses too.Always tight though.I find Inter very good,Zanetti is outstanting in pes2010 and they have a great defence.

If you play 3-4-3 against teams with fast wingers you will DIE! They will just run up the side, turn and go up the sideline for a back pass and a shot. You need a 4 man back line (straight line) to contain attacks as much as possible.

agreed! I use them whenever I face Real or Barca. I usually man mark Ronaldo or Messi with Cordoba and that eliminates half the problem of trying to stop them, hes very good defensively and fast in PES2010 .

I never use three at the back. It's hard enough with four. Anybody who picks Villa and uses a 3-4-3 against Real Madrid and wins is just very good at the game.

For someone like me those would be suicide tactics.

The problem is when they're orange/red. In that case, unless its some little kid who doesn't know how to play, even a very good player will struggle stopping them.

When Messi/Ronaldo are red, they are unstoppable, LITERALLY. Best thing to do is just praying the player against you is really shitty :D Luckily, most of the times those Messi/Ronaldo kids are so stupid that even if Messi/Ronaldo will be blue/puprle they will STILL pass them the ball and run run run :lol2:

Just try the formation...........?
Also, when your LWB/RWB have the ball around the half way line, hit cross field balls towards the corner edge of their penalty box, leaving your RWF/LWF one on one with their RB/LB. Hit these balls at every opportunity. The RB/LB is sometimes dodgy tracking back, (if he's there at all) otherwise he will head away as he runs backwards, giving you a corner or throw in.
Or try the 3-5-2.

I'm not the best at it, but I'll generally get 2 players to do a tight mark on them, and have the strategy set at "pressure", so Messi and C. Ronaldo will hardly receive the ball when the play is at midfield.

The fact that you have many players do a tight-marking on Messi/C. Ronaldo/Kaka@Real is offset by the fact that the kids who use always them are "one-strategy" players. Once these players are nullified, they will not know what to do. In fact, they will keep trying to do the same thing for the whole game until they get their goal.

Then, just use long balls to keep the play at their end, and force them into a passing mistake. This is about as good as I can do with an average player who uses Barca/R.Madrid. If it's an actual good player that knows every trick in the game, then it's impossible, IMO.

Im a man utd fan but play as arsenal  their pressure play and counter-attacks are brilliant.
