when i am playing online i get them anoying people that use the likes of messi to run down the wing run in and pass with a tap in goal can i prevent this in any way HELP

What's the point? Defending yourself from such runs and trying to counterattack isn't my idea of an enjoyable game of PES. Search the forums, there are threads about people searching others who want to play without resorting to such tactics. Their usernames are there.

to be honest only about half of the people i've played resort to scoring those goals. i read some tips on another thread which were useful for defending against them. seems that everyone with a ranking of 650+ will attempt that goal time after time so play people lower ranked...

weve gone through this not long ago and found a few different opinions mine being make sure u defend very well double up at times if possible and if they get in the box and pass bring the keeper out and for me he will save 8 outa 10 (ps2)

Can you do anything to prevent this?? Do you have any power at all to prevent it?? That's a good question.. and unfortunately the answer is NO. I used to be one of the best players at defending in PES 2007 -but- PES 2008 is just plain bad, there's nothing else that can be said.

The defending is horrible. Most of the time I'm running after the opponent -instead of- closing space on the opponent; The defensive positioning is very poor, defenders are suposed to position themselves in front of their opponents -not- behind their opponents. And as a consequence I have to make excessive running in order to defend a little decently.

Many PES fans are stating that "PES 2008 is more entertaining because you have to attack more, instead of defending, bla, bla, bla.." - I'm sorry to disagree, but that's not what Football is about - Football is not all about Pace-Attack-Direct Football, that'll be the EPL - but not Football.

Yes there's Direct Football (such as the one played in the EPL), but we also have Tactical Football and Defensive Football - can this types of Football be played in PES 2008?? No!! and that's one of the many facts that makes PES 2008 so disappointing.

PES lost that thing that made it a great Football Game in the first place - Game Play. I used to be able to play either Tactical Football, Defensive Football, or Attacking Football - in PES 2007. However PES 2008 gives me only one option - Pace and Direct Football - might look more exciting.. but in my opinion, after 1 or 2 weeks it gets boring as hell. The more I play PES 2008, the more boring it becomes. On the other hand, I still play PES 2007 from time to time - and it just doesn't gets old.
