Back on ISS Pro Evolution Soccer - the original on PSX. I've never bought a FIFA game (though I did win a copy of FIFA 2002 in a competition where I won a PS2).

I've been hooked for ages

Its.. true.. I have played all four PES titles on the PS2.. i still have all four.. and am awaiting the fifth in the series. :D
It started for me when Konami released International Superstar Soccer!
Eventually i moved over to this and occasionally played FIFA for a bit.. but even back when it was ISS I thought Konami had something.. in their engine.
I played ISS Deluxe and Pro Evo on the PS1 i couldnt get enough of the version on the PS1!!
When the time came to buying a footie game for the PS2 FIFA was history .. Pro Evo has embarrased all comers since its release and with the Idea's SEABASS and his team have.. they'll continue to do so for years.
So technically I knew of Konami and their football since the ISS days but non counting this my addiction would have started with the first on the PS1.

I remember it like it was yesterday...went round a m8s house like any other friday night. Only, that night he had jus purchased ISS Pro on PS1 (chipped so cost like £5). As a previous, ignorant Fifa 'fanboy' i had no prior knowledge of an alternative footy game and, embarrassing as it is, somewhat enjoyed scoring 100 odd goals with Zola in the premiership several seasons running. But when i experienced my first of many thrashings at my m8's hands (due to approximately an hour's head start), i was infatuated! You actually had to think about what distances to shoot from and it was hard...in an excitingly challenging and appealing manner. As opposed to Fifa, whos multiplayer competition was solely based who could tap triangle quickest in order to scramble into the opponents' box; a major negative for those who hate getting sore thumbs. To cut a long story short, after purchasing the Fifas from 97 to 2000, i became addicted to Pro and still recollect countless hours on end of playing my cousins (whom i converted)..priceless

It started for me way back in 1998, when I got a N64 with Goldeneye and ISS 98. Amazingly I find both these games are still great to play when I dig out my N64 from time to time.

One great feature from ISS 98 I would like to see return to the Pro Evo series is the scenario mode. Imagine trying to do the Liverpool champ league comeback on 6*.

I say: LOL! That would be a great intro to PES6 on the PS3.. imagine setting 50 scenarios to clear from history. You could have the liverpool comeback or the United one.. you could have others too!
Usually the scenario's came with a brief storyline.. I'd like to see them do this in the PES games.

Started with ISS Pro 98 , the one with Ravanelli and Ince on the front , I'd never heard of it at the time but was bored with the Fifa game I was playing (I think i'd had it about a month!) and so I gave ISS a chance and I'm sooo glad I did !!

unfortunately living in the US I never got wind of winning eleven until a 12 year old cousin of mine (in argentina) made me play winning eleven world cup 02 for psx in 2003
I pretty much just got ps2 for winning eleven

Quoted by - ThE G -: Never played it unfortunatly, what was Scenario mode ?

I Quote: Scenario mode was aside to Exhibition, Cups, Leagues and stuff. There was a set number of story lines/situations in which you'd have a short amount of time to recover the defecit.. but if i remember correctly there was also a level too.. kind of like now with the 2*3* thing. E.G.
Level two would be something like.. "England are 1-0 down to Finland in this crucial cup game you have the second half to rescue a win"
Then on something like level three would be "Italy are shocked at being 3-0 down to the relentless german assault rescue a draw to complete a dramatic comeback"
The scenario mode introduced an affective way of playing the game in a situation and also added to the lifespan of the game.
