i USED to be a die hard fifa fan, until i discovered the joys of pes2008, i loved that 09 and 10, but i just cant get to grips with the shooting on the new game, my shoots always go way over the bar even though i only tap the shoot button, i use a cheap analogue gamepad but i have alays used the same for prevoius version of pes,
anyone can shed any light onto my shooting shortfalls

there are a number of factors that come into play now for 2011 with the shooting system. Is ur player being pressured by the opponents? Is the angle awkward when taking the shot? Is the ball stuck in between his feet when u try to shoot? All these are taken into account now. In a sense they made it more realistic with how shots are pulled off now.

i figured out the shooting, most of my shots are crakers now, but the goalies are too responsive to the shots and save them all.

The main thing with shots is to slow it down to the player's jogging pace and try different angles. The keeper's always gonna have an easier time saving shots coming more or less straight at him, but when it's from an awkward angle and has a bit of curve/dip to it or is placed through a spot that's difficult to react to (like right past his waist) then it becomes a lot more tricky to save. Power and elevation aren't everything, the positioning of both yourself and the keeper is what makes the real difference.

Personally if I'm clear on goal I like to get as close to the keeper as possible and change angle to his outside at the very last second to be as diagonal to goal as possible and tap it right past the direction he came from. Very rarely fails (you see this sort of tactic used by a lot of today's top strikers as well).

Does it make a big difference if you shoot while your going full pace or just regular jogging?

I'm still getting to grips with shooting myself and definitely find slowing to a jog helpful just before and attempt on goal.

Also another tip I learnt, don't know if anyone knows this already but double tapping shoot when volleying produces some amazing finishes. Especially from headed out corners, have a play around in training.

If I'm through 1 on 1 i wait till goalie comes out then dink it over him with l1. Always looks good on replays. As for long shots I'm still practicing

well it does in a sense. Its harder for your player to control the shot when he's running all out. Usually only a few players are capable of shooting decently from that kinda situation. C.Ronaldo or Drogba are those that are likely to be able to pull it off.

But in most situations, wad u can do is that when your player receives the ball, use the sprint button to push the ball ahead of your player, then release it and try taking the shot from there. It opens up a striding run for your player to strike the ball cleanly.

I've tried that a bunch of times and it doesn't work like that. The fact that you flicked it forward with the sprint button means the player will continue to sprint to the ball until he's touched it again, so the best thing to do after that is to slow down and take another touch into a space where you've got a good clear angle to shoot on goal.

hmmm weird. I've done it a few times already and its worked before. Though i might have pressed something else along the way, maybe R2 or something. Can't really recall without trying it again.

shooting is hard this year. all depend on how good u are in button pushing. the buttonare so sensitive. for me the really worse is when come to 1st timer or volley....i always get wide and wild!!! anyway i love this game...
what i experience of pes2011, shooting is depend on square buton (how long or how fast u push) and also directional stick. if u set it to right side but at the same time ur left stick is backward..the ball will be so weak.this is in game beside free kick also got this situation.

Dont push the R1 button when you are shooting, otherwise, the ball will fly over high. If you check the commands list, you will notice that presseing R1 after shooting will result in a chip shot. So, when you fully press x to shoot with R1 for a chip shoot, the ball will go sky high.

Good Luck

i agree R1 is so chip shot. R1 is chip shot that not wide as L1. but the directional stick is influence too in shooting. i just push square button accidently with high gauge at the same time my directional stick is moving backward after push the square, the ball get weak and low.
