Basically, which PES game from the series plays the most similiar to PES 2009? I personally, after playing 25 matches in the demo would have to say PES 5.

shame really, i still see pes6 as the best version

Pes6 with next current graphics, the champions league license and the become a legend mode would of been the fest footy title... ever

Edit: even though the mix and match strip selection at the start of games on pes5 was genius!

Something between pes 5 and 6. It has the attack of pes 6 while based on pes 5. I'd say it's closer to pes 5.

Well, the PES09 demo looks very similar to PES5.. Although, it seems it doesn't Feels like PES5.

I played PES5 today -and- I came to realize that PES6 is the better game -because- it is more Fluid than PES5.

In PES5 the game is Stopped far too many times, everytime you Touch someone, that's a foul.. great Gameplay, but the Consistent Fouls take a lot from the Gameplay experience.

I prefer PES6 because it is more Fluid, you can actually have Physical Contact without worrying about the referee calling a Foul. That said, I think PES5 haves more Realistic Ball Physics, the Passes have better pace and look more realistic.

And of course, PES5 had much better Defending, don't know about Sliding Tackles, but the Defensive AI was better -wich- Could Have given us a better Challenge.

But then again, we can always score the Cut Back Goals, or we can make Turn after Turn until we are close enough to score, etc, etc..

I hope Konami manages to release a game without the annoying flaws, a game with the Defensive AI of PES5, the Attacking AI of PES6, better Ball Physics, better player Movements (again, Animations) -but- without the annoying Cut Backs that always seem to work.

Anyways, about PES09.. a lot of people have complained about the Tricks Controls being changed to the Left Stick -but- when you think about it, this might actually Fix the annoying Cut Backs and Unrealistic (Repetitive) Turns.

Maybe having the Tricks in the Left Stick will prevent us from doing Cheap moves such as the Cut Backs that always Used to work, or the always effective Turns -with- the Tricks in the Left Stick some of this annoyances might Not happen as often.

I was wondering when people say PES6 do they mean the PS2 version? cos the 360 version was crap!

PS2 version.. I don't know about PES09 -but- all the Next Gen versions of PES are embarrassing and a waste of time.

Hope PES09 changes that..

they said they were basing it on pes 5

I hope so - that was my first PES, and the one I have most fond memories of (although I was really shit, think I only ever got up to 3 star, it was on PES6 where I got up to the top difficulty)

Yes that was the most annoying thing about PES5. I f I remember correctly in the build up to PES6, Konami mentioned they'd introduced a new tackling/defending system but didn't update the referees AI to match. Hence all the unnecessary free kicks.

I'd say PES2009 feels more like PES5.

What ever happened to the cut scene of the crowd cheering when a goal was scored in PES5?

I'd like to play a game with PES5 Pace and Ball Physics -and- with the Fluidness of PES6 + New Stats and Special Abilities. That would make a great game.

It actually seems a lot like PES 3....

The difference is that you can actually outrun defenders... in PES 3 playing with a guy who had 99 speed, a defender with 70 speed would keep with you stride by stride...
