Who's the best player in WE8, statistically?

Compulsion released an excel file featuring the default stats of all players in WE8. You can get this file from the Downloads section here.

I took a quick look at the file and checked the average (mean) stats of a few of the top players.....

Henry: 81
Zidane: 82
J. Zanetti: 81
Totti: 80
Figo: 80
Ronaldo: 81
Ronaldinho: 81
Kewell: 80

Maradona: 82
Di Stefano: 85
Zico: 83
Pele: 85
Beckenbauer: 87
van Basten: 83

Anyone know any other (default stats of course) top players?
I don't know whether the stats will change very much for PES4 (except maybe for Henry since he's on the cover )

but dont forget that the list you posted is an average...

henry is not rated higher than 81 because some of his stats (mostly defending) are horrible, but he makes up for it with the stats that he is good at, like speed, shooting, ect.
even though henry's average is 81, another player may still be a better striker (lets just take owen for example, i'm just making an example...) owen may have even worse defending skills then henry, therefore bringing his average down more, but he may have better attacking skills. If his attacking skills are better then henry's but his defence skills are soooo much worse than henry's, his average would be lower than henry's average...

does anyone get what i'm saying?
or am i just babbling on here?

no you're right.....the mean figure only works for midfielders,or to show how complete a player is.

couldn't have put it better myself. but kewell has always outstanding stats. but in the past few years, i think he has gone off track a bit

when it comes to midfielders, i think it is the overall that counts.

for strikers: weak foot accuracy and frequency, attack, stamina, top speed, acceleration, response, shot accuracy/power/technique, header, jump

for defenders: defense, balance, response, agility, header, jump, aggression, short and long pass accuracy and speed

I don't think midfielders should be judged on an overall rating, depending on the type of midfielder they are they too have specific stats i.e. short pass accuracy, tackling, defence, balance etc for a DMF and speed, dribble acuracy, stamina, long pass acuracy etc for a winger or OMF

i agree, i was going to think of it that way, but central midfielders should be judged on their overall, as they have a say in both defending and attacking

on the contrary, he doesn't have anything special. he has very good balance and response stats. but nothing else. most of his stats are on 50s or 60s and he doesn't have any special abilities

GK - goalkeeper skill, response
SW - defense, response
CB - defense, body balance
SB - topspeed, long pass accuracy
DMF - stamina, acceleration

SMF - dribble technique, long pass accuracy
OMF - short pass accuracy, technique
WF - dribble speed, long pass accuracy (i think with that the mean how good he can assess the pass and make his positioning or his run accordingly)

why sick! they're true. no one can even run aside martins. his burst of speed is unbeliavable, almost heavenly
