PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A DIG AT ANYONE THAT MAKES OPTION FILES!!!

Something that I have wondered about for a while, maybe somebody like Bluescouse or any one that edits option files could help me understand.

Why is that the good teams will have most of there players being an average 8o+ for most of their stats and the poorer teams in the lower 70s (yes I realise that the answer seems obvious at this point but bare with me) how is it that the poor sides have no players with good stamina, great speed, able to use both feet well, powerful strikers, good headers of the ball? yet when a player gets bought from a poorer side to a good team, boom, up goes is stats. I accept that sometimes little is known about a player so it is very hard to get accurate stats; or is it just a case of poor side, poor players period?

For me the difference would only be in technique, dribbling ability, shot accuracy, consistency, passing accuracy, control, there could be a few more but I can not think of them at the moment, but things like speed, strength, shot power should be almost like any other player from any other team, the exception could be stamina though.

I know it has always been like that, the game it self is delivered like that, but should it really be like that?

just in case: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A DIG AT ANYONE THAT MAKES OPTION FILES!!!

I have downloaded a few over the years and I am more than grateful for the time and effort that goes in to getting them as good as they are, and they are usually very good!

to make absolutely sure that there is no misunderstanding:

Yeh, I agree with you on that, it's something not just in option files, but also mostly on Konami's default stats as well. I can understand shit teams having low technique and dribbling, but strength and especially speed are often underrated for lower teams.

The only conclusion that I could come to is that speed is far more important in the game than it is in real life, so to give the big teams the necessary advantage in the game, you also need to give them a boost in speed.

You are probably right there, but if we look at the world cup, specifically the African sides, they were fast and strong, but technically, in comparison at least, weak, and the finishing shocking, but the games were good to watch. Urm I am not sure were I am going with my point here, maybe I am trying to say that the advantage should lay solely in the ability of the human player and not weakend stats.

OFF point, I got stopped twice last year in miami airport and asked if I was Common, several other people just stared.

I agree with you. But it seems too easy to answer. Try to edit every player you can. I do it myself, to all the teams from the strongest to the weakest one. And I'll try to post option file of Pes6 as soon as I can play the game.

Good thread mate, i completely agree with you. I am not a stat editor so updating stats for players that i have no knowledge for in my option file would make my file inaccurate. Konami have made a complete mess of the data in PES5 in that they have seemingly spent more time on the good and well known players than that of say Troyes, Nurnberg and many others. They seem to overlook free kick, stamina, shot power/technique, mentality, short and long pass stats plus many others for the weaker teams, despite the fact that there are undoubtedly some very good players in the lesser teams in real life.

If you haven't read or even heard of it then i suggest you take a look at PLF's thread over at www.evo-web.co.uk. It's a fantastic, although very long read, about the mistakes Konami have made with the stats data on PES5 and in-depth discussions on players strengths and weaknesses that needed improving in the game. Alot of players have been updated and posted so that you can import the now accurate data into your own option file. Del Piero also has a thread over there tackling the same issues and if you look hard enough you'll find alot more threads similar to these two, and although not as successful, they are still very useful.

You can also find a few threads on this forum by bagrunnell and Bitz that have updated players stats.

Nice one Bluescouse, thanks for the link, I will give it a read and see where it leads me!

Ahmedios, I could edit the OF myself but I do not get the same pleasure as some people do in doing that, plus my knowledge of lower divisions and overseas leagues is poor to say the least; but obviously I want to play with the best OF I can, on the other hand, if no one else was already doing then I would roll my sleves up and do it myself. TBH I make sure Liverpool is upto date, after that I can make do. The question is why is it like that, and not how do I resolve it. If I was to then spend the time to get it, what would be realistic only to find that the considered poor sides won everything it would be a complete waste of time as it would produce unrealistic results. THat said, if you are doing one already I would obviously give it a try LOL

WHat a thread, its several hundred pages but has some quality posts, not read all yet like. The OF for PLF must be quality, I might have to start doing one afterall! Thanks again Bluescouse, excellent link!
