Why? (Players disobeying)

Why do players do it?

For instance, I'm playing a 3-4-3 at the moment (diamond midfield) and I had Wright-Phillips on the right and Zenden on the left, however when attacking down the right side, Zenden would decide to just not bother. Now I don't mean stand still or just stay back in midfield. He'd go back and decide to become a defender, and when attacking down the left, SWP would do the same. Now it's one thing to stay back but to go back to defence?!

The most annoying thing is that I want them to go forward and be wingers. They are the instructions that my players have been given in the tactics screen. If they're rubbish tactics then fine, I don't care. However what's the point in me deciding to have 4 in midfield if they're only going to attack when they think is right? I want them attacking all of the time.

Don't suppose anyone has any suggestions?

Maybe its his attack points
use a better winger who attacks

Well I imagine Zenden and SWP have good/very good attack points. And regardless, they shouldn't competely disobey tactics orders and just decide to waddle back into central defence.

I have Hleb and C. Ronaldo as both CMF's and they fall back to the half way line when I'm in possesion.

However, A. Cole and Heitinga (SB's) both join in the attack which is more or less the exact opposite to what they're supposed to be doing!

Maybe this has something to do with their ability as stated in the official Pro Evo 5 guide.

I had this problem with my full-backs!

They were drifting in field when I had posession of the ball. I then detected the individual attacking strategy and they were being directed into the centre.... why???

The default individual strategy for all the players were fine in the last two versions but they are pretty crap in pes5.

Me thinx Konami have done this deliberately so the neanderthalls out there won't notice and will have to purchase the guide, which is being sold for £10!!!

Its simple, you've just gotta set up your formation properly.

Check your attack arrows and defence levels for each player, and choose your strategies.

Set them up how you like.

i had this problem with my centre striker every tym i go down the left or right my striker thinks its a good idea to stoll out to the same place when i want him in the centre to head the goal in!!!

the reason theyre defending alot is because u dont have wing backs and theyre being dragged back to that position.

options.

1.go to individual settings and have ur dmf attack arrows point back left and back right.this means when ur attacking,ur dmf will cover in those positions.(also good to have a dmf who can play as a wing back)

2.go to ur wingers and have their arrows point out towards the wings to have them tugging the line.

3.go to ur wingers and have their defense settings on low.

To be honest if u have three strikers u would be better of having the outside strikers play as wingers and have two hard working left mid and right mids,like beckham and gerrard for example.

if u have already done this then i look like a tit foe explaining it.
if not,ur better of getting ur hands on the pro ev 5 book and this will explain simple tactics as well as advanced tactics for more experienced players.

Are they down as wing backs? If so just change RWB to RM and LWB to LM.

even if they are down as wing backs.if u are playing them where u want ur winger to play they should just do the same thing.

I had a problem with my back 4 they kept on drifting into midfield so when the oppisition counter attacked there was no one to defend so I then put the attack arrows facing my goal now they stay back.

Easy to fix, mate. Put individual settings defense on backward. Move your CB's to touchlines. Turn off Counter attacks. Pick defenders with low aggresion
