I hate this game!!!
It is the worst version of PES/WE yet!!
The keepers are back to being worse than useless. Soft headers being palmed into the goal, never and I mean never catching the ball. But then they pull of the most amazing double/triple saves or get to a rocket shot from point blank. It is like every keeper in the world is called David James!!When you score a goal all too often you are not really too sure of how it happened. You watch the replay and still cannot understand why the keeper let it in. It some times feels like the old fifa games where all you had to do is get in the box hit shoot and let the computer decide if you score or not. And we all know that when it comes it comes to footy games you don't want to feel like you are playing a fifa 2000 etc.
I have seen possibly the most ridiculous own goals imaginable. The keeper dropping the ball when he collided with his own team mate before a defender came running in and SMASHED it into his own net!?!?!
Why does the keeper have to come steaming out off his line to get caught in no-mans land when you have 2 defenders pushing the attacker out wide??
Far too many times you lose who actually has the ball!! The game might not be broken up by the referee but games feel really bitty due to the ball never really being under control.
The computer teams seem to be off their maracas on crack with players dashing left right backwards forwards left backwards. Plus the computer insists on using little lob passes all the time and high through balls, which just looks odd, two players ten yards apart with clear ground between them so they do a lob pass?!?!?!
Your team mates are now stupid with defenders standing and watching as players run past them. If you don't use the square button to close the opposition then your players don't do anything!!
Why do players now sky shots in the vein of a Chris Waddle penalty?? 5 yards out and POW they shoot straight up!!
All the new and fancy animation means that players start to go through the motion and you have no control until the animation finishes, this happens far too often!! The cut scenes are horrible especially the one where your player is running off looking like he is running through a sniper alley with his head spinning from left to right. The freeze as the ball croses the goal line is annoying as hell!! As you get a split second of: is it in or is it wide/over?? Plus if you hit a screamer it takes all the varnish off it!!
The new quick free kick option is a total waste of time as too many times you try it and your player kicks the ball to opposition. Why they thought that this would be a good idea is beyond me. Normal free kicks also have both teams running everywhere, so when you pick your pass by the time your player goes through the motions of actually kicking the ball everyone has moved so much that you either give the ball away or pass to no-one.
I have just finished my third master league season and think that I will remove this rubbish from my PS and replace it with the far supperior WE9.
At least then when I score I goal I will know why it went in and that I actually beat the keeper with skill not some pathetic error!!
This game feels like it has been rushed out for the world cup and for no other reason.
I hope that they can sort all this out for PES 6 as the huge guide book I bought with my copy says on the front "This is the last time WE will be on the PS2" and it would be shame for it to go out in such bad style!!
