I really enjoy Fifa 10 & it's a solid game but I kinda wanna bit of a change of pace..
I have had every PES since the ISS days although I sold PES 08 after a few weeks as I thought it was shocking.. 09 was better but still not up there..

Basically is PES 10 worth a go this year?! I've seen mixed reviews around the board so some real honest opinions would be nice.. How would you peeps rate it out of 10?!

Thanks for your time! :)

There are mixed reviews, so give the Demo a go if you aren't sure. I personally hated it, and thought 2009 was a much better game.

This years instalment is definately better than lastyears not to mention the horrible 08 version. There is more depth to the game especially Master League. Totally Revamped and good to play. I would give it an 8/10.

im doing the same mate and the only real drawback for me is that there is no 360 dribbling as in fifa, its almost certainly woth a go though for champions league mode and become a legend. especially if you support one of the teams in it as they get a lot more attention than in fifa

It is a much better game than the last two but has several problems. These include:
- Latency (mainly noticeable in BAL)
- Refs give very few penalties even if you are through on goal and get chopped down from behind
- Konami release DLC every so often which re-registers all players so if you've created a team or put real players into unlicensed national teams you'll need to re-register them after downloading DLC (you ned the DLC to be able to play online)
-DLC is fairly poor. For Example January transfers are about 50% done. They also give ou things you don't want but leave out things you do (such as giving us the new Japanese home kit and a boot that looks very similar to one already in the game)

@ Escocia - I think that is has 360 dribbling, so there ;)

Obviously peoples' opinions differ. I think it's one of the best ones to date, and that it has much more life to it, fun factor, addictiveness, and depth than Fifa 10.

My advice, don't go by the demo. It had a major major flaw in it (can't remember what it was exactly but Konami admitted it). The only decent demo is the japanese one, but you need to get Japanese account to get that. Also, if you rent it, make sure to apply all of the updates, whcih IMO affect the gameplay quite a bit. You have to go to system/download to do this in the game menu, it won't prompt you to do it.

With a good edit/option file I'd say about a 7.5 out of 10. The main problem is that the backline is too passive, as defenders will retreat all the way into their own box before challenging, and they rarely make aggressive challenges so there are hardly ever any penalties.

Other problems:

- The spacing is pretty poor in the game, though it can be fixed (see this thread), which is why I say "with a good edit/option file".

- On Top Player the computer gets super hero type boosts, and so it eliminates any type of realistic strategy, as their slower defenders will nullify any speed you have on your side. And yet, Pro is a bit too easy.

- The computer AI isn't aggressive enough on the attack, and will pass the ball backwards too much, though this can be fixed somewhat with the changes in the thread I linked above.

I'm still getting a lot of mileage out of PES 2010 though, even with it's problems. Having the Champions League and the Europa League integrated into Master League is great.

I would say if you have no other games to play, along with money to spend, give it a try... If only to take a team through a season or two of Master League.

2010 is a clunkfest and robotic but a quality game and has imo has been one of the best PES's for building a ML team

I have just sold my copy of PES10 to replace my damaged FIFA10, feeling a little indifferent about it though as I have had every copy including several of the WE versions also. I would say that if you are not at all interested about online then it is worth buying, and although it is not yet smooth like it needs to be it is still enjoyable and a good alternative to FIFA 10

Anyone who thinks PES08 OR 09 is better than PES10 they must be smoking some crystal meth or something.:shocking::w00t:ninja::huh:

PES10 is nowhere near a perfect footy game or what we knew from previous PES/WE titles on the PS2 platform but is definitely playable and enjoyable at the same time. Online isn't that bad after all. You do have cheaters and people who only play with powerhouse teams and run with with Messi, CR9 and such but other than that this game is good to go in my book. 8/10 is my score.

I would personally say avoid PES10. This is the first release I bought since WE8 and I can't stand it. It's broken, it's outdated and it's just not worth the money (IMO!).

i agree with this comment, its really dire.

while pro is better than fifa, its only a tiny bit better, miniscule even.

I think theres just 3 things that ruin the game:

1. The Refs

2. Animations

3. The stupidity of the AI, most of the problems revole around the AI.
