xbox 360 transfer kit

hi i was wondering if the xbox 360 transfer kit that comes with xbox 360 elietes for transfering hdd to hdd
i was wondering does this work to transfer things from the computer to the xbox 360 like these patches if it does please tell me and tell me how to do it

I have my eye on a modded 360 but I'm a little confused.
There are lots of ads for special software to make backups like "game copy software". Does it not work if i just burn the game disk like I would with any other disk (ie, on Toast 6)?

Based on my experience with the 360, I'd stay clear of mods, because they void your warranty... and i have yet to meet a single 360 owner, including myself, who hasn't had at least one 360 go RROD.

Plus Microsoft released an update which banned most of them, although there is a long way to reverse it.
