I didn't see that one coming...
:shocking:
Yesterday I spent a little more than an hour playing the FIFA 09 demo. I figured; Since I've played PES since ISS Pro Evo on the PS1, I really had to give FIFA a fair chance before I'd judge it out.
Reponsetime is not as good as PES, but after awhile you get used to it I guess. Then I didn't really feel like I could really feel any difference between the different players I had control of - which is one of the major things PES has always excelled. That was until I get to choose Real Madrid and got a hold on Robinho!!! OK! He might be close to GOD-like in this game - but the point is: there was a clear difference between the different players I had control of. Also Diarra as Def. Mid. was a powerhouse who just pushed anyone aside everytime I tried to tackle with him.
Afterwards I wanted to jump directly to a game of PES 08 - and I must admit - however surprised I was/am: I ENJOYED THE FIFA DEMO BETTER!:crymore:
I'm not saying that now I'm running out to get FIFA straight away - because in some major aspects, PES is still much better than FIFA. I might have been blinded by the better and more versatile graphics and animations in FIFA to obscure some of the elements that PES still does better, but fact is: I'm one of those players who have played PES 08 alot and found it great (despite the lacking edit-mode) - but I found the FIFA 09 demo more enjoyable than PES 08!
Well - maybe PES will restore some faith into my wounded heart when the demo comes out - I guess we'll have to wait and see.
But fact is also: When you switch off most of the cpu. assinstance in the controller setup, so you have to do passing, shooting, through-passes and high-passes either manually or semi-auto, you get a game, that in many aspects are harder and in many ways more realistic than the somewhat arcade'ish PES 08!?
I'm waiting with high hopes for the PES 09 demo...
