player rating and position

Hey guys, just some confusion regarding the rating of players and their position. Say I'm arsenal, and I sub Nasri in for Song, the 'defensive midfielder' position. I notice that Nasri is rated much higher as an amf than a dmf, so i edit his position such that while he is in the 'defensive midfielder' position, he is now an 'attacking midfielder'. The rating is much higher, so does this mean its better? Similiarly, Arshavin is rated higher as an ss than a wf, so can I just keep him in the wf position but change him to an ss? What is the down-side of doing so?

thanks

It depends on the team strategy. If you put a player in a DMF position, your strategy will dictate that he must play like a DMF, even though he may be rated as an AMF. This player may not be too good in that position, so his rating decreases.

You can of course just change your strategy or that position... I generally change my strategy to suit the players I have / buy, rather than edit players to suit a strategy.

So I'm more of a Wenger than a Trapattoni! lol

But do the stats really change on that player in like decrease???
Lower shot acc. and shot pow. for example???

They must. Otherwise, it's just a meaningless number.

I don't think anyone actually knows how the stats decrease specifically though...

I genuinely do think that is the case. If a player has a is rated 80 85 or 90 for a particular quality, that doesn't change just because he's somewhere else on the pitch. The manner and time at which he uses it merely changes.

I believe the rating doesn't not change the player ability at all. It is just to show that a player more suitable (rated higher according to Konami system) to a particular position.
