If you struggle defensively try 5 at the back or a defensive-ish 4-5-1 and try to frustrate him and play on the counter. If you are a decent player, you should get some chances and if you take one you can win 1-0 and he will be frustrated. Try it out.

that option isnt on ps2 so i go to team startegy where you can pick a different formation. i set this to 2-4-4 with 2 cbs, 1 dm, 2 wb, 1 am and 4cf (big players, good in the air) then during the game you press L2 and o or x or whatever and it changes the formation. it works quite well. anyone...
