Dedicate the first or first two seasons in D2 to youth player training, then you'll have a team that can't be improved (much) by buying players from other clubs. How realistic is that? I did this in my first try at ML-5*, and it took the joy out of transferring and buying new star players...

I see no reason why the stat couldn't go to more than 99. It would just mean that maximum is 111, not 99. At the end of the day, these numbers are converted to a speed, acceleration, shooting accuracy, etc. cjshp, where did you get this info?
