What OS do you have, CPU and RAM also? If you have Vista/Win7 and your machines CPU and RAM are decent then another thing to look at is disabling a service called SuperFetch (a prefetching service used by Vista/7), while it improves performance greatly for general programs running on a Vista/7...

I think the AI problem has improved a bit since then, i remember fifa 2000, i was leading 5 - 0 till the 70th minute on world class, won 7 - 6

Also in FIFA the AI is not up to scratch, im not sure if this is true about FIFA 06, but if u play it in World Class and u are leading 1 - 0 i can predict that u will lose 2 - 1 by 2 last minute goals this happens all the times and is too predictable.

Its cool as well how players pick up injuries when they exhaust, the CPU are better @ free-kicks, i have conceded a few free-kicks, one from 30 yards out against Bulgaria!, ive seen more than a few hit the bar and saved by the keeper
