It's normally just you two having a bad connection between each other. That's why you normally do really good first half and then crap second half. Just make sure you dont play anywone that you get a 1 bar connection with, they're normally the only laggy ones, although 2 bars can lag sometimes.

You've just got to find some decent players taht have good conections. Before playing a match always check to see if its a green connection and check to see if he's had many disconnects. The lag can be annoying but only 1 out of 10 or 20 games lags for me, and that's easily worth it...
