I think Namco would be a good shout with their Football Kingdom franchise. I'd give that a go if they released a new one... (I'd still be up for playing the original if I had a modded PS2)
I'll sort it, there's absolutely no way it should be 85kb, that's pretty big for a web JPEG these days...
edit: Are you using photoshop? Never mind if not, but in future use the "Save for Web" feature. Anyway, with no effort, it's now 10kb:

In my opinion:
4 and 5 were a mess. 4 was too arcadey, you could easily run circles around everyone and the whole thing was too fast (like 2008), 5 was good, more realistic but far too much stopping and starting from the ref that really took away a lot of fun from the game. Between 4-6 I'd say...
I never had the pleasure of any WE games, as I never had a modded PS2, but I'm guessing that WE6:FE was the one between 1&2? Don't they always say that WE7 was the definitive game?
I've just had a blast from the past and can't quite believe just how good the older PES games are. I got the most play out of 1&2 and I just couldn't stop playing them.
Even though you know the games had no licenses (especially back then) and poor elements such as commentary, sound effects...
Heyup Matthecat, haven't seen you since the last time there was something to complain about...... well I'll remain optimistic for now and not judge the game until it's released and I've played it. Then I'll complain...
yeah, PES 2008 was really really poor and lots of people have turned to FIFA this year. There are a few people who feel the same as you, but a lot of us here are very loyal to PES. Search the forums, and welcome to the site.
