So it turns out that it was because my friend's 10yo son was signed in as a Temporary Guest! So, all players who make the effort to come around and play the game (offline) have to Sign In. If they don't or can't sign in, you lose all edited features. THAT IS DISGUSTING!!! Shame on you...

My friend's kits and team info are fine in the edit screen, but when he starts a match, ML etc, all of the teams are reset. But... in the edit screen the teams are all edited!?!? Wtf? Any ideas?

Oh really? I really like PES 2016, I thought it was without doubt Konami's best effort since PES 2013. And, PES 2016 has some good classic players in it... Joe Cole, Recoba, Gerrard, Drogba, Gudjohnsen etc. Plus the Face Editor is much better than this year's. But, the gameplay for PES 2017...
