I genuinely do think that is the case. If a player has a is rated 80 85 or 90 for a particular quality, that doesn't change just because he's somewhere else on the pitch. The manner and time at which he uses it merely changes.

That last one is a great idea, there ought to be somekind of 'foul' modifier, whereas you can hold a button whilst doing certain actions and the players either throws an elbow, pushes, pulls their shirt etc

I think what's inacurrate is the way in which these overall ratings are produced. It's entirely subjective. How good someone is depends on their individual attributes and where you play them, not a meaningless, generic number. Some people might think a winger with acceleration of 90 something...
