Yes, exactly this. Also the same player played in different positions (example: Cuenca as a LWF or LMF) will chance the overall mentality. The player is the same, so are the tactics, but he may like one position better than the other.

I guess it is a different way of showing teamwork. Higher mentality would mean better understanding between the players, and possibly faster 1-2s, better movements, etc. Buying new players can increase mentality. You just need to buy players that adapt to your tactics/style of play. That is...
