Of course things are discussed and when it's possible to add, it's been done. All you have to do is go back through the pages of this thread and you'll see a lot of suggestions that actually have potential to make the site better have been added.

Why?

Veteran status was booted in favour of the Hall of Fame. I just don't see any reason to bring it back, when it was similar. If you become an active member of the site you can see who the veterans and respected members are. Also the fact that this forum is still dominated by the veterans...

If you're an influential member, it'll be recognised when the time is right.

Not really needed in all honesty. All in all it was just a secret forum. The main forums are hardly being used at the moment. The last thing we need is another exclusive area.
