You can find the corners, but it's all about timing - knowing when to let go of the power bar and most importantly, the direction. I usually find that letting go of the direction just as both feet cross the edge of the penalty area works. It's all split-second timing, though. I find it easier...

Yep. It's highly likely the CPU will make one of your defenders give away penalties, too, even if you haven't pressed slide tackle.

I don't think penalties are as bad as people seem to be making out. It's new and difficult, and people don't like that. The only thing I don't like about it is the camera view for PKs during matches. They have behind-the-player view in PK shoot outs, so I don't know why they can't implement that...
