Not sure why you would prefer a CRT. An LCD with good colours and a response time (grey to grey) of less than 8ms which is pretty much all of them these days is great and supposedly better for long-term viewing.

Maybe you need to lower the resolution? Depending on the size of your monitor, you'll be limited to particular resolutions. How are other games playing, which resolution are you using and what size is the monitor?

Is the Radeon HD 4850 on the supported list? If not, don't worry as I use the 4850 on XP and the game is fine so you'd expect the 4870 to be fine too. Ensure you've got the latest DirectX and graphics card drivers.
