I reckon its for pre match shots and for during the highlights. I doubt they'll show shots like that at an in-game situation I mean when do they show these shots in a real game? Usually in the analysis. It's probably a Master League thing.

did you play batman begins on the ps2? I thought that was actually a pretty cool game as far as Batman games go. Next favourite to that was the Batman Forever game on the Mega-Drive
