As an American, I'm not really going to judge the strength of the National team until after the World Cup, plenty of bad teams have had one good tournament and then fizzled out, compared to sides who consistently make it to the quarter finals. I would not say the US are a serious contender...

As everyone else says, FIFA will draw you in for a while simple because it's a new game and feels fresh, wait a month however and you'll get bored of the stilted gameplay and be back playing PES.
