I find I have to keep taking my thumb off the left stick and putting it back on 'coz its got so out of position, after a few minutes... Maybe its me having a slippery left thumb, but I find much lower levels of slippage with the d-pad, so, by default, that is my choice.

It must be possible to score from 65-70m in open play. I've just gone about 2 feet wide of the post from behind the centre circle, using the above method.
