I just started a new BAL as Thomas Muller, from Bayern Munich. It's exactly the same as the normal mode, except you play as an existing player. Yes, you can choose ANY player, that exists in the game, young or old. So Messi fans will be able to play as Lionel Messi in BAL if they so desire :)...

I never really checked, but I only got the option to CHOOSE my number in my second season. During the pre-season, you have the whole month to pick and choose between numbers but once you go into the season, it will be finalized.

I played BAL for almost a season straight when the game came out. Thought it was crap. Let it rest for a week or two. Now it's pretty fun again. PES really is a game that you should only play for half an hour or an hour at a time :P

I've yet to find it. You can change the ball for certain cups in some Edit menu, but no in the leagues. It's kinda like the Champions League/Europa League balls last year, they're set.

The problem is that it is so sensitive. I barely have to tap the stick too send it outside the frame. On my BAL save, I even spent worthwhile points on training PK Taking, since it makes it all a little easier. I've shot three penalties with my BAL player. One was in the goal, two was wide...

Konami could take a look at 2K and their NBA 2K10 My Player mode. Aside from matches, you can do certain training objectives for a little stat gain.

You can train them. Takes a number of weeks, depending on how many points you put into it. It's in the Personal Data (or something) > Training menu. I trained PK Taker right away, since trying to take PKs without the Skill Card is hard as hell.

Opinions are subjective :) Most games are liked by atleast one person. I personally didn't like PES 5 or 6 very much, so in MY eyes, they weren't good games.

Nostalgia, huh? I've played both those games, weren't impressed. International Superstar Soccer 64, to the Nintendo 64, was a masterpeice, of it's time. FYI: International Superstar Soccer is the predecessor to Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer.

I've been wanting a training mode for BAL ever since it first came out. Hell, not even one where you need to do objectives for some stat gains, I would just like to be able to freely run around a training pitch with my player and train feints, runs, shots, penalties and free-kicks etc etc.
