Yeah it happened to me today. Gave away a penalty by tackling automatically just because I switched player. How very annoying.

Yeah I don't think it makes a difference, Konami really should implement it in though. Like the team morale should be effected by the captain, and for example at half time maybe it could let the user select some motivational words from a list that will have different impact on the players...
