Bug in Konami Cup mode and number of human players?

Hi

This is my first post here att pesinsight.:)

I´m not a rookie to the series though...I´ve played PES and PES 2 for as long as they have existed.:)

I have a problem with PES2 that I think you guys can help me with.

When starting a custom tournament, I choose to include 4 teams and put the "number of players" to 4/4. (I thought this meant "number of human controlled teams"...but ohh no!)
After that it is time to select teams. All the teams are denoted P1 - P4 after selection, indicating that every team is human controlled.

The probelm occurs when you enter the first game and try and select sides for the match. I want to play as the home team and one of my friends as the away team. This is not possible to do! All controllers can join the home team, but none can join the away team. Weird, aint it? So what´s the point of choosing "number of players" to 4/4?

We have analysed it and come up with the conclusion that this must be a fat bug in the game!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

/Martin

You are right.
Unfortunately you are not allowed to play as the CPU controlled team against a human team as you could in previous versions of the game.

Hopefully this mode will return in the new games coming out soon.

Hmm...but the teams are selected to be human controlled in the tournamnet setup menu. They even get the index P1,P2,P3 and P4 to indicate that they are human controlled...but they are not controllable. Perhaps this is what you meant?

The teams you select for human control will be controllable using the first controller.
You can join the other players to the human teams but only to the ones initially selected.

No controlling of teams not initially selected.
Hope this clears things up.

Ok...well...so if I get you right...there is no way to make it possible to play four persons in a tournament with four teams (one team each) and play each other.

Well...in that case the "number of players" selction is totally useless. Let´s say that you choose two players in a wold cup. You end up 1st and second in your respective group and get to play each other in the play off...but it is impossible to play that game because you cannot controll your teams...only P1 can controll his team! Right?

Appreciate your help.:)

All the teams which have P1, P2 etc are human controlled teams and can be controlled by you.
Just take a look at the controller settings before the match starts.

It's very important to do this before the match starts so get into the habit of checking the controllers before you set your formations as it can then be forgotten.

To try this, I just started a World Cup.
2 Human players.
Put them in the same group.
Their match was the first one.
Blue controller is on the left and red controller is on the right.
You can control the away team.

You just can't control the CPU teams.
Hope that clears it up.
If not, try it.

Thanks Zygalski, this is exactly what I mean. We tried that but it didn´t work! It was purely impossible to controll the away team, even though it was a human controlled team (match was P1 vs P2). Ehh...do I have a bad copy of PES2 or what is going on?

Ok, try this:

Konami/Umbro Cup
Tournament style
4 teams
4/4 number of players.
Choose 4 teams (which will be denoted P1-P4)
Go ahead and play the first game and try to choose sides, the away team is impossible to choose.

Or do I have this problem because I play through a multitap? We have four controllers connected, all in port 1 via a JOYTECH multitap (yeah I know original is the best...the the Sony origianal multitap wasn´t on the market when I bought this one for Timesplitters.:)).

Hmm.perhaps I must have the away team's controller in port 2?

Thanks Zygalski!

No worries.
I will try that out cup later on.
I had my controllers in ports 1 and 2.

Yeah, try the multitap in port 2.
In my experience, the offical multitaps work better than non-official ones. Even a second hand official one is usually better than a non-official one.

If you play one-on-one matches for these cups, maybe there is no need for using a multitap and if you disconnect it, everything will work fine.
Good luck.

Ok Zygalski...I´ll do my homework and try all possible combinations...I´ll even borrow a Sony multitap from a friend.;)
There has never been any trouble before with my juytech...but you never know...:)

The thing is that we want to play 2 on 2 in the tournaments...because it´s the best way to play PES2!:D So therefor it would be great if it works with more than 1 player in each team. I can´t see any good reason to why Konami shouldn´t have included the possibility to play more than one player in each team.

Take care!

Do you have the 2nd controller in port 2? If so, try putting all controllers in the multi-tap. I only briefly skimmed over this topic but that might be your answer.
