i ordered Champ Manager 5 few days ago for its release (18.03.05). i payed £18.99 free P&P. i think thats a bargain to b fair. www.play.com. i was wandering if any1 else has ordered it and knows about any new specs to this addition. or if u know a link to a review i can check out? thanks

my opinion its hte best out still and always has been. football manager doesnt have the addiction factor i dont feel. but its a lil silly bringing champ out in march dont ya think. but then again i guarantee football manger '2' will come out for the new season. just makin money knowin ppl will buy the new cm

i have football manager 2005 which is Sports Interactive's new management sim and its a great game. prob thou and prob loads of ppl disagree is that champ man has become far to compelx and complicated, u spend 5 hours sorting team out doin tatcis for players when on left or right of pitch and spend as much time as a professional manager does! i'm not advocating a sensi world of soccer where a season took 10 mins, but i think champ man 3 was their best series. Total Club Manager is interesting, not as good but odd things like players argue over parking spaces at the clubs training ground

one thing about the game that dissapoints me is that Eido and company have decided to make the game one player :mad:
so for the first time ever i will not be getting championship manager

i think lma manager has 2 b the shittist manager game ive played, at the beggining of each season there r class playas there on a bosman e.g. zidane and dinho. wots that bout

thats fair point. i used to play 2 player with my eldest bro, but he would take forever sortin his squad and would look in lower lower league for ages to buy players for man u. nightmare

the new transfer additions sound awesome on the new cm addition. bein able 2 talk 2 players to coax them to playing for u (e.g offering them improved wages. same as asking backroom staff on where they think ur teams weaknesses are. sounds pretty cool.

yeah i know what you mean i play with my 2 other brothers and they take over an hour just looking for players
what about you are getting championship manager 5 ?

dunno. i have been playing champ man since it came out and guy roux manager b4 that, so i ought to think i should. plus i like the format better than football manager, but like with most champ mans the release date has been timed shockingly. they used to come out in october, but then it was like jan and CM4 came out in April i think it was. i think i'll prob just get it and see for myself how it is. if no good just add it to the rest of my champ man games. at least its more affordable. used to have to buy the 3 seperate disk sets for CM2

You abit a a champ manager veteran as well ? :D

i'll probably get if not just to see how well they've improved it compared to football manager
alot of people wrote off CM 5 when football manager was released so it'll be interesting to see if they were right to do so
wether the game is 1 player or not

i agree skipper. i have wasted too many hours on champ man to think about it. i remember running cm 97/98 on my old old pc which was a 486dx with 16mb ram (upgraded - wohoo!) and it took 2 hours to start a new game then i'd play till went to bed every weeknight. great days. best thing was u could play iss on PS at same time coz it took so long to do anything.

Football Manager is made by the people (SI Games) who made all the Championship Managers up until this current version. They then split with eidos. As part of the split Eidos retained the game name (championship manager) whilist SI Games retained the game code (Basically the match engine etc.) SO Football Manager is the game that has been built upon the code used for the old championship managers and this new came from Eidos has been developed by a new company and is a totally game engine etc. I don't expect it to be anywhere near as good as Football Manager is.
