Ok, I've been reading a few posts about your PC's disc-rewriter not being compatible with DVD-R's etc, and wondered, is there a way of seeing if your's would be compatible? What "version" do I need?

Cheers :innocent:

Not sure what that means. The pc should be able to write to anything. But some types of disk work better on the ps2.

Just get any type of disk that allows you to write at 2x.

I read somewhere that someone's re-writer wouldn't allow the DVD-R dsics and he had to get a new re-writer?

That was most likely me mate!

I got home tonight and my DVD+R did work, although it took quite a few tries to get it going.

I think I will still get a new DVD writer cos apparently DVD-R's do work better, you can get a decent one (that supports all formats) for about £45-£50 on the internet.

I've also read that Ritek DVD's seem to work better with PS2's although I'm not sure if that includes the slim PSTwo's. Worth a try :)

My sister's boyfriend just told me my PC won't be able to burn onto my new discs?
I have a drive with "DVD Rom" written on, and one below with "High Speed Compact Disc Re-Writer" on.

Is this true?

A cd writer will write on CDs. A dvd writer will write on DVDs and CDs.
A dvd rom will only read dvds and cds and is not a writer. You can pick up decent dvd-writers for around £20 these days.

Would I have to take it to a shop to have it fitted?

If you are scared of the insides of a computer then yes.

Otherwise its not very hard, just a simple plug in two cables and do up some screws. If its a newish PC i doubt you will need to make any other changes (BIOS etc).
