does it really matter who your captain is

i was just wondering if it matters who your captain is, i mean is better to have beckham ya captain or someone with good teamwork and mentality, and also is the dribbling stat a kinda captain stat as it infuences ya team to attck with flair???

I normally use Beckham when playing as England.
One time I played him on a down gray/white arrow and my whole team sucked really bad. Not sure if this was due to the state of the captain or what.

I reckon it does, I've got Gerrard as my captain and usually when he's on form my whole team are

i have read that the captincy dose not effect the persons rating, but i havent heard of a team boust
