I think you hold R1 down if its on PS2

Surely you just mean the shot fake. Press Shoot, then roll your thumb onto the pass button. The power bar will come up, but the player will dummie the shot.
I don't know what you mean by dummie though (lol i'm a dummie)... there are half a dozen (atleast) methods of dummying a shot. Most of them involve pressing shoot, then pressing another button/combination of buttons afterwards. The normal shot fake can be done aswell by tapping Up OR Down on the right analogue stick twice.
There are alot of threads on the forums describing the different types of shot fakes and dummies. (basically all moves in the game are covered in the forums somewhere or another). The Search tab at the top of the screen is a good place to find previously posted information.

Or the one that's incorperated into a shot which is when you hit R2 just before the player strikes the ball. it isn't really a move to fake people out or whatever... it's just where the player has to change his shot animation to make the "placed shot" - which Square + R2 would achieve.
