European Licenses Are The Priority

Jon Murphy has insisted that Konami have prioritized acquiring new European licenses, ahead of any other footballing region.

When asked whether the J-League will ever appear on PES, Jon replied with this:

It seems that fans of the top division of Japanese football have a long wait before the J-league is introduced into the Pro Evolution Soccer series - if ever.

From a personal point of view, I agree with JM. I would put European teams first too. The market is there, and I would imagine that the majority of J-League fans would be playing Winning Eleven, rather than Pro Evolution Soccer.

What do you think?

What I don't understand is that they've got the license, why not just implement it into all games?

That would be pretty cool. But I feel with EA based in Canada, I feel a deal would be hard to negotiate.

Of course though, I'd welcome a licensed MLS with open arms.

I would imagine the Premier League License has to be their main priority from a selling point.

They need to get the German league in. At least get all the players in, with real names. If they have fake names (like some of the teams in La Liga), it doesn't matter, but at least have the teams in. It's outragous not having teams like Wolfsburg, Dortmund, Hamburg and Schalke in the game.

I think the Bundesliga licensing is as much as a problem though as the Premier League licensing for Konami. Not sure why, buts its been that way for years.

I'm feeling pretty optimistic about the Bundesliga (maybe fake though) being included in PES 2012 actually!

What's silly is that they used to have the german league... then took it out. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah but thats donkey's years ago :D

Which means that they were able to have it all those years back, but since they've grown and developed as a company... they've lost it.... nice bit of inverse logic there :D

I don't care if the bundesliga is not licensed, I just want it to be included like the premiership. To be honest, I don't need full leagues, just top teams from around the world.

I think FIFA's practical ownership of the FIFPRO licensing has forced Konami into abandoning additional unlicensed leagues. Also, got to think about the consumer, if you're having to patch 40 plus teams, its going to have an effect on sales outside of the hardcore fans.

I don't see why the FIFPRO license isn't split ie give it to both sides. I mean, surely it means more money?? It's a stupid move. Like exclusive DLC. One console may pay more for exclusives, but surely they'd make more money if they did it for both consoles, and got more sales?

EA pay a premium though for exclusivity. Its common business practice, you monopolise to maximise profit. Sky did it for years with Premier League football until the government got involved.

Give me the Bundesliga dammit. How about some more licensed teams from the Americas? Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, USA.

I'm sure that EA have recently been done, because of their hording of another license... I think it's the NFL perhaps. I say recent, it was at least a few months ago.

The FIFAPro license is a bitch. Although for me, licensing doesn't mean much. I would happily put a 100% unlicensed Pro Evo game ahead of any FIFA game.

Firstly, because it's not about the visuals. It's about the better football simulation. And secondly, we have a shit load of devoted option file makers to overcome unlicensed teams - although some people STILL don't know about this.

It'd be great if they could add Championship teams, I hate playing teams like Xcjhljgsdjhabin from D2 when they get promoted. They can get the real players, and just call them names like:

London Blue Stripes
Sherwood FC
Foxes Utd

etc etc etc

agreed. or as I'm having a problem right now with my ML. First I played Eredivisie so created all the teams from dutch First Division.

Then I decided to create the swedish Allsvenskan but the problem is the fact that now Dutch First Division teams get promoted! Perhaps there could be an option when you start ML that could make you choose to turn off D2?
