Hi I'm new to the forum, and I have a technical question about Winning Eleven 8. I am using a Slide Card to load Winning Eleven 8, I insert the DVD Version (CD) NOT the CD-R Version (CD). Then I go through the whole routine of using the slide and removing the magic slide DVD, then inserting Winning Eleven 8, and pressing X to load....... HOWEVER when Winning Eleven loads up ITS IN BLACK & WHITE, no colour at all!

Yes I have got a colour TV, and yes the normal PS2 boot-up is in colour before I put in Magic Slide DVD? But why oh why is the game in BLACK & WHITE. My PS2 is hooked up to a portable TV, is that the problem? But surely it can't be, my friend's PS2 is hooked up to a portable TV, and WE8 is in COLOUR? (Yes he is using a Slide Card also).

Any advise please??

Your TV doesn't support NTSC signals. All games from JAP/USA are NTSC and therefore need a tv that supports this system. Most Sony tv's have this support but not many older, portable tv's do. Are you using an RGB scart cable? If you are not this might be the problem but I highly doubt it.

My advise is expensive: Buy a new TV that supports NTSC.

Thanks for the advise?? No I'm Not using RGB Scart cable (to my knowledge anyway), I'm using the standard PS2 cable? I have a wide-screen Hitachi TV (2 years old approx.) in my lounge, would that support NTSC signals? (of course I would have to use composite connector (the one which has 3 jack ends 'yellow/red/white').

Thanks again for the advice

I think it is really all because you don't use a RGB-cable. I have a high tech new JVC television with everything on it but without a RGB-cable I have black and white too... I also have a 10 year old tv and on that tv with a RGB-cable I also have colour... So I'd say you better buy a RGB-Cable first before buying a new TV... ;)

Good idea! That's what I was trying to say in a round about kind of way. Sorry if I confused you there Billy. Try and RGB scart first as they only cost about £8-£10.

I saw on the InterNerd a NTSC-PAL converter, I assume that would work on my old portable TV.

http://www.kanection.co.uk/product.php/40/0/

But is sayz this 'Play NTSC import games on your PAL PlayStation in full colour (WITH MOD CHIP FITTED) on TV's that don't have a scart socket. '

I pretty sure I haven't got a mod chip. However I saw another one which states nothing about a mod chip?

Looks exactly the same as the other one though?

Once again THANKS for all the assistance guys?? I'm A BIT of a dufus at this sort of stuff! Cheers

I think you might not need a new TV!!! buy an RGB cable with Audio and Guncon output, that should work :) you can get 1 from play asia or the uk for around 3 quid or so

Original, Yeah it does, however I have to choose teams where their kits are White (or near enough) and the opposing teams Black (or near enough)? Bummer?

But still after a couple of goes I'm still going cross-eyed??? but it still looks retro? cool?
