Having no money to spend is a blessing in disguise on this game. On FM05 I always spent big and brought loads of quality to my teams, and never actually took a youngster through the youth team into the first team. But with Bari on FM06, I have no choice but to do that. I've been in charge for two and a bit seasons now, and I have a team full of teenagers who are brilliant- getting starts not because I'm trying to improve them, but because they're the best men for the job.
One of the players was there when I joined, Fabio Nigro his name (don't bother searching- I'm in 2012 and he is 19), he was not a great player at all. He was 17, and so I decided to put him on the bench and bring him on when I was winning games comfortably. He got better. He is now a regular in the first team on the left wing, been the best player in the first few games of the season, and he is still 'promising', meaning he should get better still. Theres more too. My second and third choice midfielders are 17 and 18 respectively (called Gabriele Corrado and Filippo Masiero). They cost a total of about £200-£250k, are both promising, and they are both shit hot. They have managed to force their way into the midfield of a good Serie B team, ousting players who were regulars in the 4th placed team the year before. Incredible. I'm short on first team strikers due to injury at the moment, and I am playing a 19 year old Englishman, Liam Rose, up front and he has scored 10 in 17 in total for me- most appearances from the bench. And Luca Ferrari, only 17, is also looking bloody good too. There are other youngsters looking good as well.
Anyway, I got to the Serie B Playoff Final in my second season. I was playing Messina, and they finished above me in the league, so they went up if the scores were level after two legs. They went 2-0 up at my place early on, but two penalties from Nigro got me back level. Then in the secong leg, I went behind, equalised, went behind again, and equalised again. I then went for it knowing I had to score but conceded again in stoppage time. Serie B again.
Oh, and I'm still being linked with the best jobs on the game, all after one fluky World Cup.
