Formations, tactics and strategies

Hey guys!

I'm about to enter a PES 2008 competition here in Brazil, and I'm sure I can't go through it just with the basics.

The primary rule is: to play with the original teams. Without any modified player.

I'd like to know from you what you consider the best formation, tactics and strategy for any team. I know I have to fine-tune the team, but there's always the best way to begin.

Thanx!

am also organising a competiton for tomorrow on playstation 2 for PES2008 here in Ireland

Id just say use the team you enjoy the most, but Barcelona and Manchester are great teams in PES2008, and use either of these formations 4-3-3 or 5-3-2, they are great to use.

Good luck

Hi doyin!

Thank you for the tips. I'm from Brazil and I'm just the one who doesn't liketo play with the best teams. I really like to organize any team the best way.

I used to play with Manchester, but now I'm wondering playing with Newcastle. They're kind of fast.

Good luck with your competition.

I have a team where i try to use the best team and formation, and what i got is:
---------Cech----------
----Lucio-----Stam-----
Zanitti------------A.Cole
-------------Essien-----
-----Gerrard------------
---------------Rosicky--
-Eto'o------------------
--------Bergkamp-------
---------------Henry---
I made it so that the full backs push up often enough, but not leave too many spaces. Essien plays defensive (arrows towards his own goal and def. high) but still as a CM, while gerrard is attacking (arrows towards other persons goal and def. middle). rosicky cuts inside, while eto'o is also attacking (but in RM), so he will make lots of runs to both cut in and out the wing. Bergkamp acts as a playmaker, while henry acts as a left/center forward who makes runs.

Of course, you can't do that because u can't change the teams. So i suggest that for the GK, you use Given. I would swap the CB's with Taylor and ___ (i don't know newcastle's defenders in PES6). I would also swap the RB with Geremi, LB with N'zogbia, or mabye Duff. The defensive CM could be butt, but i think you should convert him into a DM for extra defensive cover. The attacking CM could be Smith or Barton, depending on stats/condition.

For the wings, I would place Duff on the left, and Martins on the right (I know he doesn't play that position, but he is very good there), with milner as a sub. Up front, i would use Smith or milner as the playmaker, and owen as the CF. So it would look like this:

----------Given----------
-----taylor----( )-----
Geremi-----------N'zogbia
-------------Butt--------
------Barton-------------
-----------------Duff----
-Martins-----------------
---------Smith----------
--------------Owen-----

I hope this can help you (even if it only by a bit!) in your tournament. Good Luck!

being a toon fan i play using newcastle often
-----------given-----------
---capaca-------butt------
-carr--------------babyaro
-------geremi-------------
smith--------------duff---
-------emre--------------
--owen--------martins---

capaca is the best central defender and butt suprise suprise is the second best defensive stat in newcastle plus he has much needed pace unlike rozenhal and taylor ,i use geremi as my DM because hes decent with good pace i use smith and duff as RM & LM respectively as this opens the opposistion up and both have decent pace with emre playing as a CM playing in a AM role this way he will not push foreward untill the balls played past him but he has very good passing and good dribbling skills if you need to run with him also i play owen and martins wide apart like you would using 4-3-3 but not with the middle striker this allows a through ball from the wide posistion going straight (ie smith to owen) this will be able to utilize their blistering pace because the defender will be on the inside this allows you to double tap r1 to push past the defender and give a blistering shot all in one movement

good luck

Mostly depends on how you play and what players you have...

Here's how I play with my favourites... Arsenal

One of the two central midfielders is set to DMF and the CMF is probably a quick player like Rosicky, Gerrard or Park Ji Sung (of Manchester United)
