Im in 2012 season at the moment and i have signed retired players such as figo, zidane, vieri and pires but they are really shit and very hard to develop them which pisses me off big time cos i play a fast passing game and these players are really slow and shite.
Any suggestions on how to improve them faster?

Favour playing them in the league over europe or cup games. They say that the ratings go up better when the player plays well but I haven't seen any evidence of that. Finally maybe it's better to bench a few of them and only bring them on in the last 20 mins of each game.

I know these tips suck but I can't think of any more.

Make sure you train them in the off-season. That get's their stats up. Retierd stats go up very hard and their stats are shit in the first place. So in the first place dont sign them.

How many time do they need to play to improve stats? Is 20 min. enough?

You are better off going for young players and developing them. Players on their last legs arent going to improve, so buying a bunch of 35yo+'s is a big mistake.
