Its a poor argument. PES could be ten times better but FIFA will always be behind.

Learn to live with it.

in your opinion. last time i checked fifa had all the licences, and more than 4 different advertising boards round the pitch, and dont they have decent commentary?

i cant say pro evo is better because i havent played a fifa game for years but that was because gameplay was so bad, it might have improved who knows coz most people on here seem to not want to entertain fifa at all, which is understandable. id give it a go but not with much expectation

on fifa forums do they have to arse about with option files like we do here?

if you play real football and understand it you would know that you dont always get 100% of the decisions, even stone wall penaltys arent given all the time its called human error and im glad that they have got that into a computer game as well

would be so boring if every decision was right all the time!

tr1n1ty the online game is good, the lag can get annoying when its really bad thats why i hardly play ranked games!

can be annoyin when u got someone who is boring and runs to the wing then rolls it across goal to score

i guess its the same as playin with ya mates really, but just means u can do it whenever an not have to arrange it

i dont actually play pro evo offline no more against the computer seems to easy so i just do online play

I know when i play"real" football if an opponent is through on goal and one of my teams defenders takes them down they get a red card for a "proffesional" foul and a 2 match ban. it is extremely rare a ref misses this sort of thing. Of course it does happen, but as golbergio said the ratio of fouls and cards given when you are hacked down is COMPLETELY unrealistic

It has clearly been said on a couple of occassions that we dont want 100% of the decisions !! I think you should spend some time learning to read rather than stealing alloy wheels all day!

I wanna play in your league, ive played Sunday league for years and find that it depends which ref ya get and who shouts for the decisions the loudest!!!! had a great one the other week ref was on the half way line central defender brought down the attacker in the area one of our players was next to the ref and told him free kick outside the are and thats what he gave the other team werent happy but me being on the sides nearly pissed myself!!! things like that happen every week!!! and i play in the league that had the oldest ref 80 years of age, he should of retired 40 years ago but bless him he enjoys it even if at times its like playing without a ref!!!

sounds like you just want the game for the looks. sure fifa has the license, and 4.. advertising boards.. so go patch them then. right now i have 6 advertising boards, all of the licensed teams and the Bundesliga implemented in my game. the only thing i can say about this poor commentary is turn it off. ever since PES3 I've had it off, and still do today

I'd take a free copy of Fifa yeah. PES is still great on multiplayer, and for that reason gets a lot of play at our house, but falls flat when playing alone. Not very more-ish.

of course looks are important, when people found out there was no licensed boots they wernt happy, people get patches and OF's to improve looks so yes it is a major factor of the game, and i turn the commentary off too but i shouldnt have to, not when i pay alot of money for the game

the advertising boards look stupid, they are so dull, red, white or black. WOW really making it look good there. would it cost konami to go to a few companys and say we'll advertise your company for free. same with music, can they go to a few bands and say the same instead of us having to suffer the shite thats on the game which i am forced to turn off.

there is nothing in the new pro evo (ps2) worth paying nearly £30 for

This site in general is (in most cases) unreasonably anti-FIFA. Right now there is NO footie-sim installed in my PC, but if I owned a next-gen console, I'd be playing FIFA 08 right now. And I've been a PES fan since the PS One days!

PES won't "always be better than FIFA" even if it stinks. That's not a valid or even intelligent argument, and probably is the kind of mentality on the part of the developers that brought PES to being what it is today, ie. a substandard, below-par game. Play a bit of FIFA online then try playing online on PES. Play a little Gears of War and then look at the graphics on our beloved franchise. Watch a real football match and then pay attention to the rhythm of PES. Observe how real-life players behave when marking and applying pressure and then watch the robotic precision and untiring sprinting of the players in PES. See what I mean?

Goldbergio: Just so that you know where you stand, everything in FIFA is fuller and better than in PES, but the game play is not "there" yet. Of course, PES 2008 is most definitely no longer "there", so I guess FIFA wins hands down. I even like the flow of the game better in the latter, which is quite a sad fact for me as a PES fan. The 'fun' factor is probably still on PES side, but FIFA gives you more of that oozy feeling in your stomach when you make a realistic play instead of rushing about the pitch like crazy. And you can even play online decently.

An interesting parallelism: I had more 'fun' playing FIFA 2000 for a game or two, but when I wanted a real football match I turned on my PS One and played Winning Eleven for hours. PES 2008 is 'fun', specially with friends, but I can't be arsed to play it in single player. As I've said once in here, I uninstalled it after getting an aggregate victory of over 20 goals (I think it was 24, can't quite remember) in Top Player, against some top team and with 'good' (not excellent or superstar) players. Sure, it was fun, but I'm not touching the game again.

EDIT: I've just realized I'm talking 'next-gen' PES and next-gen FIFA here and you're not. If you're planning to get FIFA 08 for the PS2 or PC (ie, the 'not next-gen' version), then don't. It sucks.

Konami still rules!

im getting increasingly fustrated at the pro evo series now, i have not properly enjoyed it since pes4 but stil i buy it coz there is no other game for football other than fifa which was on my last experience of playing... dreadful

but that was a few year ago and wonder if its changed. im so tempted to have a go on the latest installment but ont want to pay anything which leads me to my question, if you could have the new fifa for free would you give it time of day?

ive had enough of players missing open goals, belting it at the keeper when hes way out of position, chipping the keeper being almost impossible, keepers bringing me down in the area and getting nothing and when the very rare occasion he does he only gets booked! going clean through and the last man chops me down, outside the area and he only gets a booking. that is just a brief list of the faults on this game. i would love for another games maker to bring out a football game to rival the "big" 2, come on capcom do your thing!

Although I agree that it is very close to impossible to lob/chip the keeper from any distance, I would never ever ever ever ever ever ever consider switching to FIFA. EVER. Konami rules. Also, why are you moaning about other players on the oppiosite team only getting booked for certain fouls, when sometimes it may work in your favour?!
