A player rating is bases upon all aspects and all elements of the game that that player has just taken part in, I explain as follows.
1 ALL PLAYERS
1i) A player can only receive a rating of between 0-11 if he has participated within the game longer that 5 min (this includes experience points)
1ii) A player will not be rated by the number of minutes he has completed on the pitch after the elapsed 5 min.
1iii) A player will be rated relating to his position only, for example if a defender scores he will be given a higher mark than if a forward scores.
1iv) The number of experience points gained will be effected by the players rating.
1v) Any yellow cards received by a player will result in a deduction of 1.0 from there base rating, this is the ultimate rating killer. A CDF scoring and having the game of his life looking at a rating of 7.0-7.5 will be hugely knocked down to 6.0-6.5.
1vi) Any red cars will result in a deduction of 1.5 from there base rating, DO NOT DO THIS if you have any ambition of getting your players in the record ratings league during the ML season.
1vii) All players start each game with a base rating of 5.0
2 GOAL KEEPERS
2i) A GK will be first rated on shots saved this why if you have a strong defence your GK may suffer in his game ratings. The way in which he saves the shot is affected on his rating also for example holding or parrying the shot, holding being the better of the two.
2ii) The GK will also be rated on his passing ability second and % of completed passes. All pass variations are rated the same excluding the punt forward. A percentage is broken up into 4 parts for all payers as follows:-
0-25% low 1.0 deduction from rating
25-50% average 0.5 deduction from rating
50%-75% good 0.5 increase of rating
75-100% excellent 1.0 increase of rating
2iii) Ultimately clean sheets are a must for any GK, 1 conceded goal will result in a base rating of 5.5 (base rating being the lowest rating you could obtain by just completing this task, not taking into consideration passing, movement, dribbling etc) or decrease rating of 1.0.
3 DEFENDERS (CENTRAL)
3i) A DF is rated first on his ability to protect his goal from attack and therefore a clean sheet will result in a base rating of 6.0 or increase of 1.0
3ii)A DF will be rated on his Passing % as above.
3iii) The movement of a DF and his possession of the ball will effect the rating he will receive, for example he will be given a higher rating if he can bring possession of the ball out into midfield breaking down the attack and creating the base for his team to advance up the pitch. This is measured by the amount of possession this player had the ball out of his natural position.
3iv) Scoring a goal with a defender will give you a base rating of 6.5 or increase of 1.0
*The best way to get a high rating in this position is to keep a clean sheet and a good % of passes.
4 DEFENDERS (SIDE/WING BACKS)
4i) SB/WB are rated similar to CDF only there is more emphasis on there possession in the opposing half and less on the protecting goal issue. This is why if you concede a goal the chances are your CDF rating will be affected grater then the SB. However the DF/SB who is seen responsible for the goal or directly involved in the goal will be more effected by decrease of there rating. This is measured by the area the scoring player was in when he scored, example, If a player crosses the ball into your box and then that cross is headed/volleyed/rolled etc into your net the players seen responsible will be your CDF not the SB. However if a player runs down the wing cuts in a scores himself your SB will be seen responsible.
*The best possible way to get a higher % in this position is to have your SB running deep into the opposition half and making crosses into the box.
5 MIDFIELDERS
5i) All midfield player will be mainly rated on there passing % and possession of the ball in the oppositions half as explained above.
5ii) OMF /WF will be rated the same as a DMF
5iii) Scoring is not a large part of the midfield position therefore any one player doing so will result in a high base rating of 6.5. or increase of 1.0
5iv) Assists are seen as a major part of the MF role so there will not be much increase in the rating.
6 FORWARDS
6i) A forwards rating is the easiest and lest complex of all simply score, score, score! As this is an important part of a forwards position it does not greatly affected his rating making is sometimes seem unfair that your player has just scored a hat-trick and yet on received a rating of 6.5-7.0. This is because a forward is mainly rated on his % of scoring, not the scoring itself. This is why a player only scoring 1 goal can receive a rating of 7.0, the same as your hat-trick. Why because Mr 1 goal buried his one and only chance. The hat-trick forward scoring 3 goals missed 10 chances to score the three.
*To obtain a high rating in this position do not waste scoring opportunity’s, a clinical finisher will be well on the was to a 8.0 8.5 rating in no time, combine that with an odd assist and some good passing and possession your on your way to the perfect game rating of 10.0, and remember no killer cards.
7 GENERAL POINTS
7i) A player receives a game rating in each and every game he plays, these ratings are stored and added together to create a total game rating and is displayed in the season rating league during your ML season. Unfortunately if you do not have a total rating of 7.0-6.5 or higher you are unlikely to ever see your players in this league.
* I stress every game the player plays this includes pre season friendly.
