how to deal with pressure

gents, i was wondering about your view on this,

with my team i always try to play a passing game, using short passes to build up my attack, sometimes i play an opponent who really puts me under pressure and it is very difficult to keep the ball in posession to build up a decent attack,

how do you guys deal with such opponents? I try to set my sliders for support range a bit lower so my players will come into the ball more, and it seems to work a little, but i am wondering if this tactic doenst just makes it easier for the oppenent to defend since my team will play more compact..

Bit late this reply, but you have to play the pressure system to its weakness. Atleast on man is drawn in with the pressure button, possibly more. Thats great! It means that the opposing teams formation is pulled out of shape.

What you do is dribble slowly in an area, wait for them to get close, but not too close, and then pass/offload. The technique i use is i wait till their infront of me or near me, do a 90 degree turn so my players back is to the defenders and then do a short pass.

Probably sounds overly simplistic given its a seriously annoying problem. But the simple logic is if they chase after you, they open up a gap in defence, which gives you a chance to put a player into. If you can flood the central channels in the pitch and use high dribbling wingers to retain the ball on the wingers (draw players out here) and then pass into your densely populated centre. You can either shoot from here depending on range, or give a through ball to a forward if your in the middle of the half. The defense will be wrecked.

Draw man, pass.

Ball retention is certainly key, but one two's are equally as important it sends players forward and floods the space with attacking options.
