Getting FIFA Commentary into PES5
I have received several requests asking how to do this. So I wrote this tutorial.
Disk Space Needed: You could probably get away with around 5GB but try and create as much free space as possible before attempting this.
You Will Need:
DKZ Studio
CD/DVD Generator
WinRAR
...and a LOT of spare time on your hands
To save you the time of ripping all of the sound files from FIFA yourself, I recommend you go here (DEAD). This is the legendary Beardymagic PES4 FIFA Commentary patch. It contains all of the commentary files, all converted to the correct PES format and ready to go. Yes, I know what you are thinking. This is a PES4 patch. Technically it is, but it can also be used in PES5.
Edit: Hmmm...it appears that the link has died. Read the last paragraph to find out how to get commentary files from FIFA 06 or 07 to use instead.
Download the patch and decompress it using WinRAR, then open it up with DKZ Studio. When it has loaded, go through all seven segments of the patch and extract them all into a new folder (call it something like PES5). Here comes the long boring part. Once you have extracted the files from the patch to a new folder, you need to go through all of them, yes, all 6001 of them, and change the file name to whatever Motson or Lawrenson is saying in that particular file. Some of them are duplicates, but this is necessary, as PES5's commentary is much more varied than FIFA, and contains far more commentary statements meaning the same thing. When you are finished, arrange them alphabetically.
Once you have done this, insert your PES5 disk, then highlight all of the files from the disk, and drag them into another new folder named ISO. Once the files have finished copying, open up DKZ Studio and locate the ISO folder. Inside the folder there should be several AFS files. Open the one named E_SOUND.
Extract all of the files inside into yet another new folder (just call it E_SOUND). I cant remember where the commentary files start, but they are all ADX files. Listen to a the files you have extracted until you find the ones containing commentary. One by one, listen to the files and replace them with a similar file from the FIFA commentary folder (this is why you have to name all of the FIFA files, as you can easily find the ones you need). Remember to name the replacement file the same as the once that is being replaced.
Once this is done, create a new E_SOUND.AFS with the files from your E_SOUND folder. Open the ISO folder. Replace the Original E_SOUND.AFS with the new one you just created. Now open CD/DVD Generator. Click new project and then dvd rom (the second option). Open the PES5 folder up and drag the files into dvd gen (in the right-hand column). THEY HAVE TO BE IN THIS ORDER:
IOP
romlist.dir
ntgui2eu.elf
NTCNFBIN
system.cnf
module.afs
over.afs
sles-53544
boot.afs
o sound.afs
o text.afs
e sound.afs
e text.afs
f sound.afs
f text.afs
g sound .afs
g text.afs
s sound.afs
s text.afs
pes5ntsc.pss
pes5pal.pss
In all there should be 21 items. Now click the volume tab on cd/dvd generator and enter this info:
DISC NAME= SLES 53544
LICENSE AREA= europe
VOLUME=pes5
Once you have done this click file, and choose export IML. It doesn't matter what you call it. Save it on the desktop. When it has finished saving, open up DKZ Studio and choose ISO Maker from the tools menu. Locate the IML file you just created, choose where you want to save your new ISO, and click start. It should take around 7-8 minutes. When it is done, burn it to a blank DVD-R, using a decent burning program (you could probably get away with DVD Decrypter), on the lowest possible speed.
This method can also be used in PES6. If, like me, you have gotten bored of hearing Motsen and Lawrenson whining in your ears whilst playing, I believe they have some stuff over at socceraccess to extract the commentary from FIFA 06/07. That can then be converted to ADX format and inserted into the game.
Bada-Bing, Bada-Boom. FIFA commentary. If you have any questions, just ask.
