I can't figure out the free transfer thing.

First off, hello, I'm new, and thanks for any help.

I earned 10,000 points to buy the free transfer/team edit mode in the PES shop but I can't seem to fathom how it works.
All I've done so far is switch Crespo from Inter with an 'Unregistered' space at Chelsea. Now I'm trying to update the major teams but it won't let me do anything else.
I'm not sure if (for example) to get Mutu to Chelsea I have to swap a Chelsea player to Parma, which I don't really wanna do.
I'm not too up to date on the exact squad so I don't really see who I can get rid of except for De Goey. But I can't put him anywhere.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I looked around but had no luck.

You can't transfer a first team player, they have to be substitutes or reserves. The easiest way to do this is to earn 3000 PES and unlock Edit Team Strategy, replace Mutu with a substitute striker and then use Free Transfer to edit Mutu to an unregistered place at Chelsea.

You'll need to do the same for Makalele and Joe Cole too.

Although you don't neccesarily need Edit Team Strategy, I substituted players through starting a match with Parma/Real/West Ham, going to formation settings, substitute Mutu/Makalele/Cole with another player and stocking your changes, it worked. and they're all at Chelsea now - but I think it screwed up some of the team listings in edit mode.

It's still not happening. I got 3000 points and unlocked Edit Strategy, put Legrottaglie on the reserve for both Italy and Chievo, and could still not bring him to Juventus. His name was grey. What am I doing wrong?

If you didn't, edit by going to...

Edit Mode > Edit Team > Edit Team Strategy

Then make the substitutions and save the option file, if it's not already on autosave.

That's what I did. I replaced Legrottaglie with an 'Unregistered' in both the Italy and Chievo set-up. And then on the club transfer he's at the end of the teams' lists but still greyed out.

I also have a problem with this feature. Players that have been released by clubs in the summer, for example McLeod at Everton, were do you put him when you free transfer him on the game?

You could stick these players at the 2 fake clubs. Or if they are not international players, you could edit them to make them into a new player and send them to a different club maybe.

go to
edit mode>edit player>register player>freetransfers

for example : mutu to chelsea
select someone off the chievo bench, then choose chievo again and swap him with mutu. now mutu is on the chievo bench.

now register him to chelsea in a free space. if you want him in the starting line up select im and go to chelsea again and swap him with one of the starting strikers.

Simple!

Surely you can send the players you don't want in your squad to a 'free transfer list' were they are not registered with any club. There are only a certain amount of spaces in the fake teams squad so you could not put every player who has left every club into these teams.

you need to go into the transfer thingy, swap the player you wanna transfer with someone at the botton of his own squad(i.e. put transfer mutu for another player at the bottom of parmas squad), and then u put him in an unreg. spot at another squad

Okay I'm still no further in working this out.
Here's what's happening:-

In the "Register Player > Free Transfers" mode when I select a club team I can only switch choose from international teams and the club team I have selected. All the players in the club team I have selected are greyed out and I can only choose international players who don't have a club to play for.

For example, whether Mutu is on the bench or not I can't take him from Romania to Chelsea because he is at Parma. I can however use Parma to swap him with Bratu (a Romanian forward with no club), thus putting Bratu at Parma and leaving Mutu with no club. Then I can take Mutu to Chelsea but I'm stuck with Bratu at Parma when he shouldn't be there.

I hope that's all understandable because it's driving me insane.

using you're example of Mutu, try going to parma on Register player=> club selection, then put him way down the roster, then swap him with "Unregistered" at the bottom of the chelsea roster, he should play for them then without having a useless player at Parma

Ok I worked out what I was doing wrong, I was on Club Selection rather than Free Transfer. It's all clear to me now. Thanks. IS there a thread somewhere that people have made to list the transfer changes they made in the game? I'm not up2 many transfers outside of Serie A.
