So lets say we play these games on a PC, we wouldnt have to purchase any extra additions to have our games play at the proper resolution?

But with an Xbox360 and PS3 we will need a HDTV?

Whats the price tag on one of those High Definition Television's then?

I'm from the US so I will be using NTSC standards here.
OK, let me explain this in the simplest terms I can. The avg. PC gamer uses a resolution of 1024x768 or 1280x1024. A SDTV (aka normal TV) only has a resolution of 640x480 interlaced. A HDTV can display 720x480 interlaced, 720x480 progressive (progressive scan is more like a PC monitor), 1280x720 progressive or 1920x1080 interlaced or both.

The xbox 360 has a native resolution of 1280x720p meaning that when played on a SDTV the image will be down converted thus losing quality. There is a reason why the demo 360's at stores are hooked to HDTV and are in 720p.

The PS3 has no native resolution but it will still suffer because 640x480i WILL NOT SHOW THE FINE DETAILS.

Oh and about the cost. I have a 52 inch HDTV that cost me roughly $2000.

herd they have all sold out of the x360 with wireless controllers and extra memory in the us there will be very little chance of getting one over here in the uk unless you've pre orderd me thinks. No concern of mine ps3 is the best bet for you'r money it will be a far superior compared to the x360 truley next gen.

Xbox 360 is just a minisized computer with high specs. Even some new games on PC supports HDTV (high resolution). If u have a very good graphics card: GF 7800 or X850 XT you will definitely get the same quality. The only exciting part of X360 is that it is launched much earlier than PS3 and its online capability is very good. If you have a lot of cash in hand, get X360. It's a good buy for 1 year.

If you run BF2 online, with all setting as high as possible, I doubt your computer will suffice deftones. Unless of course, you already did that.

EA's advice system requirements
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Windows XP (32-bit) with Admin rights
1.7 GHz Intel Celeron D / Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/ Sempron or greater
512 MB of RAM or more
8x or faster CD/DVD drive
2.3 GB free hard drive space or more
DirectX 9.0c compatible (see video)
DirectX 9.0c compatible
VIDEO
Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
ATI Radeon 8500 or greater

I was trying to make my point clear, that for BF2 you need a rather good computer. I exaggerated.

i got myself a xbox 360 and a hdtv, reason is cos i am a hardcore gamer of xbox and ps2 never got into pcs to much money to buy the best graphics and upgrading never my strong point, ok graphics arent the best for there better ad like someone said it is the first few games out so i was sort of guessing it before they came out they wudnt be that good, call of duty isnt a game made for 360 its just a complete import from the pc maybe with a hint of extra detail and not what they put in but by the different chips in the 360 adding extra things.

problem with the 360 is it is only designed for a hdtv and not a standard telly this just means that when played on a standard telly it loser some of the quality of the games graphics and squashes the picture,

The ps3 on the other hand is a all telly system thats all we know for now.

If we get all technical and crap the ps3 has 2wice the power of the 360 how i kno this well for one like someone said

Xbox 360 = ati made the graphics chip
PS3 = nivida made it

ati's chip is only as good as the greatest graphics chip on the market now
nivida's graphics chip is one step above the rest they decided they didnt wanna use todays technolgy chips and create a brand new top of the range chip the sony guy behind ps3 gave them a list of things he wanted the chip to do and they designed it to do all tht and more. this is the story we are gettin anyway, this chip the cell chip (ps3 chip) is amazing by the sounds of it, like a graphics card now it can do about 3 different things before it over heats, the cell chip can do 10 seprate things before it even breaks a sweat, theres also a built shading prgram init which means game designers can design games which can be near enough as good as a animated film i.e incredibles or even better spiderman thats how good the ps3 is ment to be.

this is how some of the pro's of the gamin world wraping the whole next gen war

xbox 360= a next gen console

Ps3= a whole entire entainment centre

Revolution= the one for imagenation

xbox 360 is going to get better and better theres really no end
ps3 if it lives up to the hype it gonna be a revolutionary system but it gonna cost a arm n a leg.

if anyone wants to buy a xbox 360 message me cos i have one spare problem is it isn't got a memory card or hard drive, it does have an extra controller, and it comes with 3games
i'll sell it for 300 it wud cost 450,
the games are, fifa 06, king kong, perfect dark,

Why will my computer not be enough?
If you are thinking about EA's requirements, let me clear something up. Almost all games CPU requirement is based on Intel CPU speeds. Yes, BF2 needs at least an intel running at 1.7Ghz. Athlon 64's are a different story however. Just go to firingsquad.com and run a search on the half-life 2 CPU shootout or the FEAR CPU shootout. You will then see within mins. that an Athlon 64 3000+ running at only 1.8Ghz is more efficient at running games than a P4 running at 3.0-3.2Ghz. Not to mention that AMD64 3000's with a venice core can be easily overclocked to meet the performance of the Athlon FX-55 and sometimes exceed it. Thats pretty great for a CPU that is dirt cheap.
example http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=1255&page=9

So let me give my current sys specs.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (venice) overclocked to 2.61Ghz
2Gb of PC4000 DDR
2 x 160 GB SATA HDD's
1 x 160 GB IDE HDD
Sapphire x800 GTO2 256MB (flashed with x850 XT bios and at x850 xt speeds)
SoundBlaster Audigy Xgamer (its really time for me to retire this)
16x DVD-RW DL/CD-RW
MSI Neo 4 Plat. Motherboard

Yes, I am one of those geeks that research what certain components can do before I buy them. But just think, my $140 CPU has the performance of a $600-700 CPU and my $215 GPU has the performance of a $300-350 GPU.

Its pretty bad mate, out of date squads, can't take players on and all the goals are the same but playing on live is very good. I only had 3 matches on live but they were great, if you ain't got live then no way is it worth £50.
