Dam its been ages since I last posted :ninja:
Anyways, I have the pc version and just got the ps2 yesterday cuz it was severely neglected where I live in Canada. Every other version was released on time, including the ds and psp but the ps2 didn't come out until over a week later. This is a sign to show you konami just didn't care about the ps2.

Gameplay is slightly different than pes6. The ball is heavier and more loose from the players feet. The animation is a tad smoother. Distance shooting seems easier now. The game feels slightly harder than pes6. If it ain't broke don't fix it right? Player models actually took a step back though. Pes6 faces look so much more realistic.

Comparing to the nextgen, it is a completely different game. The pace is nowhere near as fast and it is miles harder than nextgen. No new tricks like CR7's flicks and such. You can't choose which players you want up for corners (really how hard would it have been to implement this?). Same old ML! Nextgen you can have 20 teams per division now, ps2 still 16 teams, no clue why...
There are over 30 stadiums, twice as many as nextgen. Editing is a lot better, pretty much same as pes6.

The game is half price of nextgen though. I was disappointed since I was expecting the new tricks, 20 teams in ML, and choosing which players come up for corners but I'll still be playing this to death, unlike nextgen. So basically you already have this game (pes6). If you tight on cash skip it. Hopefully next year's nextgen version will be ace.

Thanks bro, I read that it was pretty much the same as PES2007, I bought the PSP version, its good but theres only 1 stadium and no commentary

TBH, i think the PS2 version is not good this year. All it is is PES6, with updated commentary and updated teams and players. If you like PES on the PS2, stick with PES6 because, PES6 & PES2008 are not that different gameplay wise. ;)

I found it easier to play online with the ps2 version.
Ps3's gameplay is a lot different i think, so i'd go for any.
Ps2 for online, ps3 for gameplay.

i have both Xbox360 & PS2 Version, and i like the PS2 version actually, yeah alot of step backs from the next gen versions, and yeah it is the same gameplay wise to PES 6, but its still good & very fun to play.

After spending a lot more time with it the $30 I paid for it was justified. I find the gameplay more realistic than ever now. The ball bounces all over the place so you don't have as much control as before. Passing is more difficult now as you really have to look where you pass which is great. A lot more subtle changes to list you'll just have to see for yourself. So at first glance yes it seems same as last year but upon further play quite a few good changes were made.

Mind you I no longer play on top player as its so exaggerated and not realistic. Everyone is fast, strong, can dribble and shoot, doesn't matter what team it is as all top player does is boost their stats. Good if you want a challenge I guess but football is not like this. Everything feels fantastic and realistic on regular although its pretty easy with a decent club, just like real life I guess hehe. Not very challenging but still quite fun. Haven't tried professional yet but I'm guessing its just like top only not as much of a stat boost. I'm afraid for more difficult ai on a ps2 only thing you can do is boost their stats. Maybe I'm crazy but I actually feel 2008's regular level is better then 2007's top. It is just way too easy to split teams apart with passing in 2007, especially the top clubs.

Its a pity practically no one in Canada gives a shit about 'soccer'. My buddies have no clue or interest and I still have the older model ps2 with no network adaptor. Won't be spending money on 1 since everyone says online is garbage right now. Seems like it would be great playing 2008 with friends though :crymore:

For me the PS2 pes2008 is the best!!!
PS3 version isnt ready
xbox and pc ive never played!

One thing missing from the post was the added feature of the World Tour!!!
This will keep you entertained for months, i havent even played my master league due to wanting to complete the world tour, brilliant feature that makes up for any short comings in the game!!
game play smoother and better than 07 give it a go u wont be sorry!!

Meh. World Tour, shmurld tour.

If you already own PES6, save your pennies for something else and just use an updated OF. 2008 isn't worth it for one extra mode.

Exactly Give it a try if your not to pleased return it.
they have slowed the gameplay down abit so u have more time to pass and not panic all the time

Ignore Fick he is informing you yet has never played the world tour mode he is unhappy he has not got it on his version!!!!

World tour is FAB and definately worth the purchase for that and the slight upgrades pes6 is an older version no matter what everyone says and pes2008 ps2 has slight improvements and the WORLD TOUR MODE which until you play you have no idea!!!!

FICK go on try it i dare ya!!!

No offence to PS2 players but why would they put as much emphasis onto games for this when they have brought out the PS3

Its always the way, the PS2 came out and the PS1 was given a few games but in the end they stopped and all the attention went on the PS2

Same will happen this time PS2 will in the end stop getting new games produced for it and it will all go onto PS3

Happens with everything in the world, who still buys video tapes now?? All on DVD's

I know PS3's are still expensive but they will come down in price soon an thats when the PS2 will basically stop!

On the view of Pro Evo, everyone has a different view on the game, i love it think its great, yeah there are a few faults but there are in every game!

Why not rent it for a bit see what you think of it before you actually buy it

Fick without even trying World tour mode or completing it is like going to concert and leaving halfway!!

If you've seen the concert before and all it offers is a new outfit and one extra song, is it really worth it?
