Looking for some ratings, or at least someone to tell me what kind of player he is now that he's gone from Moskva to Man. City.

Thanks

Only once for Brazil because, he has quite a big ego....no wonder Dunga said Jo may not play for Brazil while he is a the helm

But he can be one of the best strikers if he sorts some stuff out. But i say "good buy" for Man City.

Where did you hear that, man? Jo doesn't have a big ego or something, and never was on conflict with Dunga, at least it was never noticed in Brazil.

About his style, early years in Corinthians he used to play as a winger or a second striker, which was a better role to take advantage of his speed, technique and dribble accurancy on the sides. Those times, with only 16/17 years old and already very tall, he was a bit lean, so the physical fight inside the area wasn't so good for him. But as the years passed he significantly improved his muscular mass and overall power, and in Russia became a trully striker, or even a centerforward, without lose the speed and ability though (the goal scored against Internazionale in Meazza illustrates it).

Jo deal just the start, says Hughes
3rd July 2008, 9:00 WST

Mark Hughes

Manchester City completed the signing of Brazilian striker Jo from CSKA Moscow overnight in what new manager Mark Hughes said he hoped would be the first of several major signings.

City said the 21-year-old had signed a four-year deal and that his fee was a club record, though the amount was not disclosed.

City’s previous record was for Nicolas Anelka’s transfer from Paris St Germain in 2002 for around $A27.15 million and local media speculated that the fee for Jo was around $A37.6 million.

Jo is the first player signed by Hughes, who took over as manager from Sven-Goran Eriksson last month.

“He’s an outstanding player and very much the sort of player we want to attract,” Hughes told a news conference in Manchester.

“He’s a big guy, he’s used to playing in big games and we feel he can deal with the trials of a tough Premier League season.

“We’ve given notice of intent. We want to push the club forward and raise the profile. The acquisition of quality players will obviously help that and the arrival of Jo is the start of the process.”

Jo, who joined CSKA from Corinthians in 2005, has made one appearance for Brazil in a friendly against Turkey last year but a reported fall-out with coach Dunga appears to have restricted his involvement since.

“I decided to come because Manchester City showed more interest in me, after I spoke with the manager I was very pleased with that,” Jo said, adding that Spain’s Valencia had also shown an official interest in signing him.

“There is a big difference between the Russian league and the Premier League but I hope I can score a lot of goals.”

Thanks, Vitumbiko.

Anyway, I really doubt about this. First, because brazilian press has never noticed it, and they cover Brazil International Team full time (and never waste a chance to blame Dunga). Second, cos' Jo isn't a problematic player, never was involved in confusions or something like that in his whole carreer. Actually, he is a very discrete person (despite the clothes and acessories he uses! lol).

I think he isn't a regular International player just because he is too young and was playing apart from a main european league. Probably this could change now, as he is getting older, better, and will have the chance to play EPL. And Dunga is almost fired, only a gold medal in Olympics could change this.
