I’ve read a few comments about the fact that in PES 2008; players sometimes tend to skate rather than run as normal footballers do. This is true and I’ve experienced it many times, it happens regularly.
It appears that no one has realised that this is a feature rather than a glitch. I believe Konami is venturing into new and exciting territory. They have managed to combine Ice Skating with football. This is because Konami have realised the direction in which professional football is heading, at least in Western Europe.
Professional footballers are increasingly more effeminate, you only need look at Christian Ronaldo and David Beckham.
It won’t be long before club kits are adorned with sequences and made from the finest silks.
I am fully backing Konami for taking this brave road and endeavouring to bring a more delicate a less brutish feel to soccer.
Yes, I realised I did say “soccer” because that’s what we will be calling it in a few years. By the 2014 World Cup I expect it will be difficult to tell the difference between a professional game of soccer and the Christmas pantomime, the only distinguishing feature will be the venue.
At last I can feel that I’m not alone in realising this trend. Now I can wear my spandex shorts with intricately woven silk and sequenced jersey with pride. However I think it will be a few years before it’s accepted by all football fans. Until then I’ll have to make do with wearing my ground breaking kit while enjoying Konami’s beautiful game.
