Hey Guys

Just joined up

Was looking a bit of help, has anyone found a good way to score free kicks in the game? Anytime i score one its just luck really.

Also, if i'm running down the wing, whats the best way to cross the ball from my side to my player on the opposite wing. I've noticed a couple of guys online doing this and it works pretty effective, especially when trying to break the defence down.

Cheers

Any help will be greatly apprecaited.

Free kicks have long been very tricky in PES, you've just got to get the hang of it, although I find holding the down arrow when taking them from close in (no more that 20-25 yards out) helps a lot.

If you're on the wing close to goal, move as if to cross then tap O once- this is intended as a far-post cross, but usually goes straight to your other winger. From other positions, check with the radar then aim a full-strength ball to anyone on your other wing. Hope that helps.

Yeah what fred said (I'm Too Sexy...) for the switching of sides.

This is my tactics for free kicks:

>30yards: cross it in.
30yards - 22yards: try and get the shoot bar at around 48%, and just aim for the part of the goal you want - no curl.
<22yards: get whoever has the highest shot power, and just blast it around the wall. If it's on target you'll get a corner at least. Hold up, just tap shoot, and as your chap runs in, hold Triangle (or the XBox equivalent). This can work surprisingly well from a tight angle, if you make it swing towards the near post as the keeper often pushes it into his own goal, and crossing from that angle is a load of ****.

If you DO plan to curl it over the wall and you're very close in - definately hold down, otherwise it'll go over or hit the wall.

If you're shooting a FK from relatively close (<22) and you're standing more or less facing the middle area of the goal, you'll see a 1-or-2-player-wide gap right between the keeper and the wall, just where the centre of the goal is. Aim as close to the wall as you can without the ball hitting it, press up, tap the shoot button and then press triangle (Y). It'll go in straight through the middle Roberto Carlos style. If the keeper gets to it, he'll fumble it into his own net. Even decent shot power will do, it's a goal 100% of the time.

Crap, I know, but perhaps you're desperate.

It's what I use - and I find a good compensation for the fact that if you don';t shoot with a free kick - crossing and passing is just ****ing **** on PES.

Sorry, I didn't understand we were talking about the same thing. I thought you were talking about those cases in which you aren't centered but to a side. Then, shooting straight to the keeper's corner might end up a goal, and is surely a corner.

And yes, crossing from too near is useless, and passing with X sucks. What sometimes work for me is passing with triangle (if you're not that near to the goal and the receiving player has open space ahead of him) or passing with circle + pressing down. That low pass is not very precise and can be too strong, so if you're near your target don't do more than tapping it, else it will bounce against the player and you'll lose it.

I use that kind of shot from the centre or from wide. Although lately I am trying a bite more to get it over the wall, as I had a successful free kick from 30 yards with Kolo Toure.

If I have a free kick out wide, where in normal football (not PES, no not PES) it's usual to cross it in, I usually get a second taker, and press L1 and X, and run down the wing with my guy before crossing it in, infinitely more accurate.

best way to score a freekick in my opinion is

if your using a right footed player, aim for the top right hand corner. in other words move to the right with the football vertually inline with the right hand corner

then hold forward on the analogue, hold square ( X on the xbox ) til you get just before half way and then edge the analogue to the left so the analogue is in the top left position.

and there you go, it works about 80 - 90% of the time :D
